Services
The Branch Museum elevates the awareness of the transformative power of architecture and design. Our vision is that with every visit, our guests leave with the inspiration, tools, and desire to advance design for the public good. Steele is the Principal Architect of Beyond Ordinary Boundaries Architecture, a Richmond-based firm that specializes in elite residential and small commercial projects over a broad geographic area.
Free parking is available in the First Baptist Church lot adjacent to The Branch. There are entrances to the parking lot from Park Avenue and Robinson Street. There is a gated entrance to our front courtyard through the brick wall bordering the parking lot. Please help us preserve the street parking for our neighbors by parking in this lot.
The Branch offers two specialized tours. Experience the Branch house through a more focused lens - learn about its architectural significance in detail or learn about the house's original residents, the Branch family. See rooms not typically open to the public and find out all the secrets of the building.
This exhibition brings together the diverse work of 11 young artists, all Virginia Commonwealth University alumni. As many people across the globe experienced in 2020, this group of artists was separated without warning. The conclusion of their college careers didn't quite feel like an end and all plans went awry.
We are proud to offer exciting programs, events, and educational resources for learners and doers of all ages. Explore our growing collection of lesson plans, digital content, and other resources for use in the museum, in the classroom, or at home. Unfortunately due to the pandemic much of the displays had been removed and were being revamped. With that said you can still look around this beautiful and unique building or at least the gardens and first floor.
If like me, you love architecture you will love this building and all that makes it unique.

What a poorly done website, WOW, information? not really. Illustrations? no. New fangled modern things called pictures, may need to check into that. This place will wither into obscurity as the only people who know if it die off because most people today know a good website is CRITICAL to drive traffic. Maybe that is why they have a job posting for a CEO, not really a good sign. It may be a great place and of some benefit, but who would know?

$5 admission to view a gallery of over-priced esoteric art pieces: Unfortunately this museum is another victim of budget cuts and staffing. The Branch is typically a sight that I would personally recommend to people paying a visit the capital of Virginia. On a recent visit, much to my dismay, I and my fellow travelers were charged $5.00 each for admission. There were no options for students, educators, etc. At less than $5.00, I would expect excellent insight on the architecture of John Russell Pope's architectural masterpiece on Monument Avenue-self guided tour. Instead there was an exhibit

The museum is the building itself and is worth exploring for its interesting architectural features. But it also does have exhibits and the last one there was better than anything the VMFA had to offer so far this year. Coloratura furniture. The first two photos attached are closeups of the artwork that was painted on one of the pieces. The other photos are of the pieces that were on display.

It's FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved visiting here, but there could be more to it. A lot of the sample photos are simply boring, but as a fan of architecture I found the building itself was a great place to get some interesting photography. The gift shop is very cute too. I would love to see them incorporate more tantalizing historical architecture exhibits. Can I request some photos of Fine Creek Mills? and other more local historical places?

This review update is only for their services as a wedding venue. I really wanted to go with them for my wedding but was unable to because even with a discount it was out of my budget. The woman in charge of renting the venue is super friendly and very helpful. They have an extensive list of caterers to choose from so it's not at all a hassle to use one of their approved caterers. If you must must must have your own, it's 100$ to get them on the list. You or your caterer must have liability insurance.
Just a note, you're not allowed to have red wine at your event because they

I have been to pretty much every exhibit opening at the VCA since I moved to Richmond and it is always a good time. Great exhibits and really nice curating. The staff and volunteers do a wonderful job of making everything feel really posh and welcoming at the same time. They also offer some great lecture series throughout the year, such as Modern Love this past spring. Recently they have started offering Behind the Scenes Tours that get you further into the home than a regular visit. And I have shopped in the museum store for everything from baby showers to wedding gifts to just little things

I didn't even know this existed until a couple of years ago when it was one of the "clues" of the Greater RIchmond Adventure race. I love cool architecture and architectural details so I wanted to see what everyone was talking about.
It's in an old Tudor house, worth the trip alone, but they also have some cool exhibits and a lot of information on architectural styles, periods, etc. It's been very handy for me as a research tool, and I picked up a great architectural guidebook there.
If you're not into history or if you think Frank Lloyd Wright was a rock star, you
