Sometimes called programming, this is the information-gathering phase. We will measure the site, take photographs, investigate the site conditions, and clearly define the scope of work in relation to your needs, goals, schedule and budget. An inspiration file of images and ideas is very useful to get us moving ahead quickly.
I am a self-taught furniture designer/craftsman who began my career as an independent artisan and custom builder. I started Built from Salvage in 2005, with the purpose of engaging in a more environmentally sound way to serve my clients. I am a Bay Area resident and native of Venezuela, with over 20 years of building experience in residential and commercial jobs.
This midcentury modern home in Kensington, CA needed a major overhaul to make it work for a family of four. In the kitchen, we painted the existing cabinets, and added a lowered height island to make the client's baking hobby more comfortable. Quartz counters in contrasting colors and textures add interest, a band of tile behind the stove creates a focal point, and a custom-designed railing to the lower level adds a conversation piece.

I have worked with Rachelle for about 9 years now. I refer her to my kitchen design clients who want extra help with color and tile design. She is caring, patient, and talented with color. She really listens to her clients and is there to make their home a beautiful and wonderful place to be. I love that Rachelle, unlike many interior designers, does not push her clients to choose the latest trends, but rather, helps them use what makes them happy in the most aesthetically pleasing way. She also has extensive knowledge in products that are healthy for the home and better for the earth.

Rachelle's talent is something that just can't be taught. She has an eye for picking vibrant colors that are warm and inviting.
She truly takes all of your interior elements into consideration so that the design becomes a flawless backdrop for your life. It's funny, you don't notice the actual elements when it's done, you just see how lovely the "space" is, because her colors and layout choices will enhance and accent your interiors or exteriors so fluidly.
Rachelle has an endless cache of design ideas and offers consulting as well. Just being around her will have you racing for a pen to capture
