Sweebe Architecture
At Sweebe Architecture we measure homes in feet, the steps they take and the journeys they go on. We work with clients to help them understand their unique flow and family rhythm. We are infectiously curious. We relish figuring sight lines for toddlers, homework nooks, teen hangs, entertaining space and functional kitchens.

We work across Northern New Jersey designing additions, ground-up new construction, remodeling interiors and full renovations. We always work within the historic context of the house, and the wider context of the neighborhood. Kitchens are for prepping, cooking and cleaning. And cocktails, cupcake baking, dinner parties, homework, craft projects and family catch-ups.

We help plan for every need. We design in tune with a family's pulse. We place a premium on context. The context of a house within a neighborhood and also a home within the context of the family. Our initial architecture consultation focuses on listening. We know that the most thoughtful architectural plans come from really understanding our clients' needs and interests.

Toying between Arctic Explorer or Architect, Mike started designing houses when he was 6 years old. His skills have improved, but his passion is the same. With a family of his own, and a dog on the way, he understands how life evolves and changes, and knows that homes need to reflect this. Mike still sees himself as an explorer.
Our initial consultation focuses on listening. We know that the most thoughtful architectural plans come from really understanding our clients' needs and interests. We want to hear your story. We also answer questions, help with worries, discuss likely construction budgets and outline timeframes. Our proposal is a thorough assessment of your needs and the scope of work.
Architects provide imagination, vision, planning, structural integrity, code compliance and safety. Town building departments require engineering calculations and drawings from architects when the project calls for wood framing and foundation work.

Mike was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We worked with him on a kitchen/powder room/pantry extension. He spent time with us up front to understand how we lived, our goals for the space and worked through multiple iterations of the design until we nailed it. He listened carefully, welcomed feedback and suggestions with grace, and was thorough and detailed. He selectively made design suggestions which we trusted and they had a huge impact. It was so enjoyable collaborating with him and he ultimately designed a stunning kitchen that fits us to a T as well as molds right in with the

Mike went above and beyond to deliver the house of my dreams. He listened and paid attention to the macro design and micro details that I wanted. His renovation plans were impeccable with the contractors noting that they had never seen this level of detail. This helped to move the project along seamlessly during COVID. My neighbors are impressed with the esthetics and design of the house. Most importantly I am happy everyday with our home.

Mike was a pleasure to work with. We worked with him on a gut renovation of our kitchen, powder room and mudroom. He had a great vision for our space! He was very responsive to our asks and really listened to what we wanted and presented us with multiple designs. As part of his service we got multiple revisions to the design, which is unusual without additional fees. He was very responsive to feedback as well. Mike connected us with a great contractor. It was a pretty seamless process but the two times that we needed Mike's input he arrived within hours to figure things out with the contractor

Positive: Responsiveness
Even though we didn't get to work together on my project, Mike is very responsive and I would recommend him just on that fact alone.

I engaged 5 architects for our two room addition (a study and a family room) and decided to use Mike when he was the only one who suggested flipping the layout so that the family room was off of the dining room and kitchen and the study was off of the living room which made a huge difference. He was fantastic from start to finish. I'm incredibly picky and I definitely had a vision so we had LOTS of revisions, but he was patient and collaborative. He wanted us to love it. Once the project started Mike jumped in several times to answer ALL my questions and to help manage our contractor. He understood

Great experience with Mike as part of our home renovation project to build an addition and remodel. He took the time to get to know my wife and I and propose a design that best matched our in-home habits/needs. Highly recommended to anyone in the area seeking an architect for your project and have already referred him to several others.

Mike is a fantastic architect. He worked with us closely on every detail of our project - a family room addition and mudroom. He was great in listening to what we wanted as our project needs changed. He has a great eye for detail and space. We would definitely recommend him!

We had a great experience working with Mike, he not only understood what we wanted to do but brought a lot of ideas to the table that we had not thought of for our renovation project. He was also there for us throughout the process and worked closely with our contractor when things needed to be adjusted as the build was completed. We now have our beautiful “forever” home and are incredibly happy with how it turned out.

Mike Sweebe of PRIME DRAFT STUDIO, Inc. in Cedar Grove, NJ was the architect on our master bathroom renovation. The project involved blowing out an old master closet and expanding the usable space, then reimagining the space as a larger, luxurious bathroom. Mike brought amazing ideas to the project, such as the bonus window in between the vanity mirrors. But he also had creative ways to deal with functional challenges, involving the room's dimensions. Mike was very accommodating with revisions and very patient with us everytime we changed our minds. We highly recommend him!

Mike is amazing! Took our 1960s home and turned it into a beautiful open concept. We renovated every room in our home and Mike laid out every detail perfectly. He came up with amazing solutions and beautiful ideas we would have never thought of. He and his team were also very patient with all my requests and always responsive. So happy with the design of our home and the support along the way.
