I, Mark Claar, started this business in 2000. I used to work for the Carpenters Union Local #201 in Wichita KS for three years before that. Previous to that I worked as a project manager for cell phone tower build outs for a few years. I achieved my journeyman status through the Union Hall and worked in the commercial environment for my entire stay in the Union.
There didn't seem to be an appreciation for good work, you did your job for the day and that was it. I wanted to make a difference to my community and to the people I did work for. I enjoyed the appreciation for the efforts I gave to do my best. I started doing residential work on the side and loved the interaction with the customer and they were always impressed by my attention to detail.
I finally quit the Union in 2000 and went full steam ahead with my own business. I've never really advertised and got most of my work from word of mouth. I started my family and wanted a future for them to fall back on and learn to be responsible with.
