In 1995 Mike and Melissa Friday established a "Team" approach to new home construction that is second to none. Recognize ever-changing markets and what the home buyers look for. All of the communities that they build and develop have easy access and excellent locations. A Professional "Team" that has developed a time-proven, step-by-step system helping the home buyers have the easiest and most enjoyable experience possible.
They continually talk about Woodland Homes as a family, a "Team". Each component of the company works from that perspective, whether it is the employees, working with suppliers or subcontractors. As a teenager working alongside his father in real estate, he sought out successful builder and development mentors.
Soon Mike permanently ventured out on his own and Woodland Homes of Huntsville, Inc. was incorporated in 1995. Mike has come a long way since building his first 1,600 sq.ft. Today, Mike and Melissa's "Team" of professionals continues to strive, not just for excellence, but to be innovative and sensitive to the home-buying public.

Family dinners are so important to me, and some of our best times and talks have been around the dinner table with my husband and 2 children. My purpose for this blog is to encourage and inspire you to have more time around your dinner table with your own family, while they enjoy the home-cooked meal you prepared for them!

After researching several builders we decided to go with this company to build our $625000+ dream home. Building didn't start until four months after we signed our contract. Then it took another year to build our home. We were told it would take 6 months, up to 8 months at the most. The delays lead to additional expenses. The problem we see is a lack of leadership and follow-up during the building process and now into the warranty/punch list issues. For example, our cabinets arrived on time but where not installed for 8 weeks because a pile of gravel and dirt was blocking the vendor from getting

OVERHAUL NEEDED: INEFFICIENT, LACKS QUALITY DETAIL, FAILED COMMUNICATION, INCONVENIENT.
Contracted Woodland to build our house on July 1, 2019. We closed and moved into our home on January 29, 2021. The house had unfinished work and repairs from day one of our move in. The unfinished "punch-list" work which was to be completed within 30 days by Woodland took from February to September 2021; our punch-list at close consisted of ~30 items and it took 8 months for all fixes to be done. The subcontractors sent to do the repairs always showed up unprepared to do the work (no hammer, no screw, forgot

I was recently in Huntsville looking at builders for a new home. I stopped at 2 locations for Woodland homes. One person didn't respond after we left a message for them. The other one picked up the phone and said that they are at a football game in Tuscaloosa on a Saturday. I understand that people have lives but other companies have other realtors sit in for them. I won't buy a house from this company.

House is ok. The closing and warranty process is so bad that is sours your entire experience. The house was built 2 years ago and we just now gave up on getting our last couple issues resolved. I had to contact most contractors and setup most appointments myself, because the warranty department was so useless at doing the most basic part of their job.
I could go into so much detail about everything about the closing and warranty process that was messed up, but it's easier to just tell you to stay away; Unless you want to make it your full time job to do Woodland's job.
EDIT: Since Woodland responded

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value
I am currently under construction building my new home with Woodland. The process has been fantastic, the employees have been helpful, organized, and knowledgeable. The quality of the home is really impressive, I am so excited to move in. I would recommend Woodland Homes to anyone looking to build or purchase a new home!

Talk to people in the neighborhood that have built with Woodland in the last 3 years. Would not have built with Woodland if this would have been done. Communication and customer service can be poor at times. Do not do construction to perm loan with Woodland.
Design center process was good but lack of attention to detail of home when built was disappointing.

Just had a house built by them, The build to approximately one year due to weather restrictions. But that is not what this is about. The outside of the house is nice and for the most part the inside is ok.
However there are issues with the house that need to be addressed and my mother who has been handling the build for me since I can not be present can not get a hold of anyone. No call backs and no email back.
We are almost certain the HVAC is not connected in the office, the ladder into the attic is not painted or spackled so it is just bare wood, my mother had to paint the trim around the

Let it be known that I’ve given Woodland over a year and a half to make themselves better before writing this review and they have continued to be just as much of a disappointment as they were since the day we closed.
First, don’t let them convince you to close and that your outstanding items will get fixed within 30 days. The sub-contractors don’t keep up with their warranty repairs and Woodland doesn’t follow-up with you after closing unless you are constantly in contact with them. Check my review of Custom Interior Trim to see just how their subs act and treat customers.

I think the pictures below pretty much speak to the quality you can expect from Woodland. I've have tried calling their sales office, I was told to call corporate, I called corporate and got voicemail.
My house is about 4 years old. Well out of warranty. But, most of the poor workmanship appears after the warranty period has ended. My master bath and entrance to our master bedroom has severe structural problems. The cracks you see have been re-plastered and painted more than once. Forget about doors closing properly. The doors have been trimmed to such an extent that a new door will be required
