After I posted my initial reviews, the owners of Air Temp Service Co. (Mario and Lori) reached out to me, and wanted to make it right. They're a family owned business, and proud of the work they do.
We talked about the issues with our interactions with their company. After some additional research, I agree that the Nest Thermostat does need a common wire, and its beneficial that we had it installed. So appreciate for the quick service and response from Air Temp. Our AC went out without warning in the middle of August. I contacted Air Temp hoping they could schedule an initial consultation in a week or so. To my surprise they were able to send a technician the following day.
The technician advised that I would need to replace my HVAC Unit,… as I assumed would be the case. He explained that my current system was very old and they didn't even carry the parts to replace them anymore. The owner, Mario, also stopped by to do a second evaluation to make sure the assessment was correct.

Its unfortunate that a company based out of the town that I live in can be so dishonest and unprofessional. I have a VERY slow leak in my central AC unit...I know I do. I have an HVAC company come out every August and fill it when it starts losing its cool. Always needs 2lbs, anything close to 2.5 lbs and the unit stops blowing cold air all together. So its May and I decide to be proactive. I call Air Temp Services because they are locally owned and received what I can only guess are fake positive reviews.

First called Sunday evening when the AC went out. On Monday, technician took a look, explained why the system (34 years old) could not be reasonably repaired. By Thursday evening, a new system (compressor, blower, furnace) installed. An attic vent fan as well.
Everybody - from the office to (most importantly!) the guys doing the work at the house was professional and pleasant. Cleanup was thorough. I did not comparison shop (it was hot this week!) but given past experience, I think the price was reasonable in general, and especially given the speed and the level of service.
