Although Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring wasn't established until the year 2000, the seed was originally planted in the 1930s. This is when Harry Hickman Jr. began logging with a crosscut saw and a team of horses. This is a self portrait painted by Harry Hickman Jr. A permanent sawmill was built in 1945 in the heart of the Allegheny plateau, known worldwide for quality hardwood timbers.
Larry is the son of Hickman Lumber founder, Harry Hickman, and the brains behind the success of Hickman Lumber. He began working for another sawmill following lumber grading school, making $100 a week. In 1963, after 2 years selling lumber for someone else, he decided he could ramp up production at his father's small mill and be successful on his own.
Hickman Lumber has been fortunate to have a strong team with many employees working 30-40 years. As we are continuing to grow, we are actively looking for motivated and dedicated new team members. There are many opportunities for growth within the company which means higher wages and more responsibilities for you.
