Mike Bardsley started learning locksmithing in 1974 while still in Southern California. When he moved to Nevada County in 1978, he was hired as the first employee at the only established shop in the county. He continued as manager of that shop until 2009. Mike has also worked for a major locksmith wholesaler in Southern California which gave him an in-depth knowledge of lock manufacturers and their products.

Mike gives excellent customer service above and beyond what is expected or required in his profession, his skills and knowledge is unmatched. He takes on the difficult jobs that most locksmiths shies away from like redundant locks on safes. He is as helpful as can be, even before he gets the job with you, he gives you ideas and such on how to solve your problem. Although I didn't use Mike, because I had to have my locks changed ASAP and Mike was already booked that day. I live out of the area, and Mike helped me to try and find someone else to come out to our place in Lake Wildwood. He even looked up the phone numbers for me. He was so helpful. I went to Yelp to find a safe/locksmith to open a 1982 German curio cabinet. I selected Bardsley Safe and lock, called them and within a few minutes they called back. Appointment was set up and Mike arrived at the time set. Even called earlier to confirm time. He began working on the cabinet that was, according to him, tougher than most safes. It seems (he found reason why) the interior metal of the cabinet lock was "Pot metal" that had deteriorated so bad that it disintegrated when you attempted to open the lock..Now I should mention the cabinet has not been opened in 10-12 Years. Mike Bardsley made a 50 mile "house call" to try to fix my old safe. The safe is probably 80 to 100 years old and there was no way to know who It was made by. The dial wouldn't turn and the handle wouldn't turn. He got it open without drilling and completely disassembled the lock mechanism to clean and service it with a few adjustments.
It now works like a dream and I couldn't be happier. Mike is very competent,

In the 1990s I was on a rare trip to San Francisco eating dinner in Chinatown. After dinner I saw an antique safe on the street under a pile of restaurant trash. It was a real miracle arranging a friend and a vehicle on short notice, because I live 3 hours away. My friend and I returned to Chinatown over 6 hours later in the middle of the night. My husband and I recently purchased a home in Penn Valley. Based upon the yelp reviews, I called Mike Bardsley to re-key the entire home. He asked me several questions about the number of locks and types of locks in the home and quoted me a reasonable price to re-key them all. Mike arrived promptly at our scheduled time and was friendly, courteous, and efficient.
