Drews Solar specializes in rooftop, residential solar, serving the Madison area and surrounding counties. Michael Drews started Drews Solar 2016. After working in the solar industry for over a decade, Michael wanted to bring best practices from around the country back to his home state of Wisconsin.
We specialize in residential rooftop solar installations. We take care of everything, including working with your municipality and electric utility to permit and connect your system to the grid. We typically schedule projects out at least 2 months and the installation takes a couple days to a week, depending on the size of your system.

The 2021 rebate for residential systems will be a maximum of $500, with a $500 bonus for these rural zip codes. The solar array must meet several requirements, the two most important being the solar panels must be orientated within 90 degrees of due South and must receive 10% or less shading from nearby structures and/or vegetation.

Drews came highly recommend to me from a coworker, so I got on their wait list in '20 for a '21 install. Still, I went ahead and got about six quotes from various companies. Drews was small, truly local, very easy to work with and clearly are experts at their business. Given their experience, I trust their choices in panels and hardware. Unlike other companies, there was zero pressure or sales-like tactics, just clear information to help us make a decision. On top of all that, Drews also had the lowest price as well.

Michael, Maria, and their team installed a 27 panel array on our home last month - squeezing us into this year's schedule with little notice. The entire process - initial emails with Maria, a brief site visit by Michael, and every step regarding logistics and permitting was flawless. Communication regarding the permitting, installation, and approval process was proactive; we knew where we were every step of the way. In hindsight I wish we would have had them install our system sooner! I highly recommend contacting Drews Solar if you're considering a solar electric system.

We were so impressed with the professionalism and outstanding customer service of Drews Solar. They installed a 43 panel system for us and we couldn't be more pleased. It was the most stress free project that we have ever done, as Michael and Maria took care of everything! The permits, inspections, rebates, and the comissioning were all arranged. We didn't have to worry about a thing. We had a 32 panel system installed on our roof. From estimate to install Michael Drews handled the project professionally. All of the paperwork, including rebates was handled by him. The work was done on time, looks great and works as advertised. MG&E has a good program for selling back 1:1 so no batteries were needed. I can't believe we didn't do this sooner.

We had four different vendors give us quotes. Not only was Drews less expensive for the same or better panels, but they didn't pressure us at all (which was refreshing given the high pressure sales techniques of other companies). They were very knowledgeable. They delivered and installed the panels earlier than they originally predicted. They were professional and did a great job. I can't recommend them enough.

We had the best experience with Michael and Maria Drews. Their email replies were very prompt, informative, friendly, and thorough. We initially contacted several solar companies, and they were the only one that handled customer service well. Michael came for an on-site visit, even though he believed our roof setup (old house, finished attic, etc.) would not be conducive to installing their panels (he was correct). He recommended MG&E's Shared Solar program to us, and we wound up going that route rather than trying to get panels on our house, which would've required some added structural supports

Drews Solar made going solar seamless and effortless. We couldn't recommend them more! They are locally owned and operated and they offer a competitive price. They took care of everything (except actually filing our taxes :-))! The owner came to our home for the consult, measurements/inspection of roof and was on site installing the PV panels. Drews Solar is a local, family owned business with impeccable customer service, attention to detail, and passion for solar! With companies getting larger and taking the "profits at all cost" approach there are few companies like Drews Solar who truly care about the customer and the end result.
Michael and Maria not only walk their customers through the process but they take care of the process for them.
