We turned to A. Houck Designs after we remodeled the first floor of our home. Andrea worked with us extensively, getting to know our tastes and vision for our project. She assisted with lighting, paint, window treatments and furniture. Andrea spent a great deal of time on all areas. We were especially delighted with three different designs for our living room - it was so hard to pick which one we liked best! We are so pleased with the layout and design. We will definitely be working with Andrea again when we design our library next year!

I recently worked with Andrea on some updates to my home. Andrea is a delight to work with. She spent time in advance learning about my preferences and determining exactly what I wanted. For each item she proposed to us there were at least three very well researched choices for us to look at. I appreciated this so much! Andrea was very attentive to our vision and worked hard to create a space we would love.
I also appreciated the advance detailed explanation of how her process works and it was extremely helpful to know how the orders would progress.
The final result has been absolutely beautiful

Working with Andrea has been delightful. Having moved from a much larger home, the narrow rooms of DC’s row houses presented a challenge design. No problem for Andrea! She presented several color and design schemes, all of which were beautiful. Once our project was underway, she kept me informed of the progress of all aspects, from wallpaper to furniture. When a glitch presented itself, she worked tenaciously to get the problem solved. I’d love to work with her again. I love my new dining room and living room. I can relax in my urban home at last.

I just finished my 3rd design project with Andrea...a total kitchen gut and remodel...and it was a seamless and efficient as the other projects she has done for us. From design concept through choosing all of the cabinets, counter tops, tile, through construction everything moved smoothly. Andrea promised that the new kitchen would be ready for our annual family Thanksgiving dinner and it was...from demo to Thanksgiving dinner in under 4 weeks!

We are mid-project with Andrea Houck and the experience has been amazing. She started us out with a review of her past projects and an explanation of her process. That set a great foundation for what to expect which was really helpful as we are new to the design experience. Our project is a tough one, with plenty to challenge even the most experienced designer. Our theme and goal for the project is to create a “WoW” factor in our new gathering room addition. My wife and I just completed a project with interior designer, Andrea Houck, president of A. Houck Designs. We were very happy with the end result of our living room, dining room, foyer, and kitchen breakfast nook. This was the first time that we had used an interior designer and Andrea was able to easily answer all of our questions and guide us through the entire process from design concept through installation. After initially speaking with us and finding out what we did and didn’t like, she was able to help us define our style and presented us with a number of different options for each room

Most designers have their own style and then use that same style on all of their work. Andrea is very different in this regard. Andrea spends the time to get to know her clients and their individual preferences / styles. Thus, as you will see on her website, most of her work varies at each home. I have a very traditional home and yet I like a Spanish touch. Andrea was able to pull it off. The result was beautiful. I just don't see that anyone else could have done it.

I love my home! Andrea's process allows her to know your design preferences better than you do yourself. I ended up with a beautiful home that everyone loves. When my family comes to the area, they choose to stay with me because they say my home is like a vacation resort. To me, it is just a beautifu place to live. And, I can thank Andrea for that. Work with Andrea - you won't be sorry!

I love Andrea's creativity and focus. She kept our project, a rather extensive family room redesign, on schedule and within budget. I have worked with other designers in the past, but none made the process so seamless. Andrea was able to capture our lifestyle and personality in comfortable updated furnishings. My husband and I were quite pleased with the final product and are working with Andrea again on a Master Bedroom closet redesign.

I contacted Andrea Houck to inquire about her services. This was my first experience researching interior designers. First of all, I left her a message and she never called me back. Then, when I was finally able to get a hold of her, she was short with me, snooty, rude, and treated me as if I was asking the most stupid questions on Earth. Well excuse me Ms. Houck for asking questions and trying to spend my money on your services! Obviously, I didn't hire her. I did, however, hire Annie from BossyColor, who was super sweet, knowledgeable and wonderful to work with.
