I recently had my kitchen remodeled by Vermont Cabinetry and I could not be more pleased with the job Mike Walsh and his team did. After interviewing and getting estimates from 2 other companies, we met with Mike and shared our vision of what we wanted our new kitchen to look like. He worked with our ideas, added a few of his own, and came up with a design far better than either of those the previous remodelers offered, and at a better price. Several years ago, we hired Mike Walsh and his crew to remodel from top to bottom the kitchen in our 100 year old Beverly home. They tore the place down to the studs, updated the room's plumbing and electricity, installed a hardwood floor and built custom cabinets that match the vintage of our prairie-style house. Mike worked closely with us from start to finish, helping us design the kitchen and select appliances and materials.

One day in June 2012, my husband was in Blue Island, Illinois and noticed Vermont Cabinetry. He made an appointment for Mike to come out and talk to me about a new countertop and floor. I had already signed a contract with another company to have my kitchen cabinets resurfaced. Do not use this company. I decided to hire a small local remodeler for my kitchen rather than a large chain and am regretting that decision. They took more than twice as long to "complete" the job. Their estimate was considerably higher than what was originally stated. "No need for a permit" they said...BIG mistake. This job would not have passed an inspection. Small details were not completed and I had to have them come back. The lighting that was installed above and below the cabinets at first flickered constantly and I was popping the circuit breaker. A perfect example of the exquisite experience you receive with a small business. Literally spent hours, painstakingly addressing each minute design concern with Mike Walsh. This man is passionate and knowledgeable about cabinets and kitchens. He was able to make recommendations to make my kitchen practical and great looking.
You can expect to spend more than Home Depot, because these are custom cabinets, however the price was comparable to semi-custom cabinets.
