We are a family-owned and operated business operating out of West Des Moines, Iowa. Originally from Rock Valley, Iowa, Jon Wallenburg founded Solid Rock Landscaping LLC in March of 2003. His brother, Chris, is a co-owner and has been with the company for about a decade. In addition to us, we employ six full-time crew members.

Jon has a two-year business degree from Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, SD.
He began his landscaping career in NW Iowa where he was a laborer and foreman for a few years, then moved to Des Moines to run a landscaping business for Wolf Construction for another three years. Chris Wallenburg (co-owner / designer / horticulturist) has a Horticulture Technology degree with an emphasis in landscape design. Chris will provide a design so you can visualize how it will look once complete. The design will be to scale, and either hand-drawn or computer generated using 3D technology.
We have three ICPI-certified installers on staff - Jon Wallenburg (founder and co-owner), long-time employees and crew leaders, Travis Hall and Justin German. We guarantee that one or both of them will be on location for all paving projects. Solid Rock Landscaping LLC uses a variety of paver bricks in different sizes, shapes, and colors to fit your outdoor preferences and needs.
Our concrete modular block retaining walls and sitting walls are built using a variety of different sizes, shapes, and textures to fit your specific needs. No wall is too big or too small. Our boulder, stone, or rock walls are built with skilled hands to create a rock wall that does not settle, move, or fall over in time.
Window wells are required by current building codes for finished basements to provide a safe means of egress, and they're an important part of turning a basement into a livable space. Window wells turn an otherwise dark and drab basement into a welcoming place to enjoy with your family. We offer a limited lifetime WARRANTY.

We couldn't have had a better landscaping company come out and do our 90 foot boulder retaining wall. They are fast, skilled and efficient workers.
The estimate was 1200 dollars less expected,most companies, wouldn't be that honest .
Defiantly would do business and recommend there service

We couldn't have had a better experience with Solid Rock Landscaping. We knew from the beginning, they were going to do the job right the first time.They listened to our needs and were very attentive and patient through several iterations of the design for our paver patio. When the time came for install, we were very impressed with the crew. They were courteous and treated our yard like it was their own property. Chris, one of SRL owners was on site several times over the course of the 1.5 weeks to check on the progress and to keep us up to speed on what was happening. He was also very helpful

We added 8 trees and 5 beds in late Fall and Team Solid Rock (Jon, Chris, & crew) did an amazing job from design to install! They worked with us on several design options and were flexible enough to allow us to do some of the labor on our own. Both the quality and size of their tree selection exceeded my expectations and we’re looking forward to enjoying them this spring.

Solid Rock did a great job with our patio, tree rings, tree removal/install and large bed install. Their price was reasonable and their timeline for completing the project was good. We made a few modifications as we went and they were very easy to work with and it did not hinder the schedule. The crew was very friendly and tidy. They have done several jobs for us and do not disappoint!
They also take care of our yearly open and closing of our irrigation system. Their price is very competitive and they have quickly changed out any heads that need replacing.
All in all, just a great group to work

I would and have recommended Solid Rock to my friends and coworkers. I have had them revamp my water drainage for my property and had them re landscape my from yard. They were very easy to work with and economical. They were able to relocate existing plants to save cost and provided very helpful advise for other lawn issues I was having. The entire crew and process from design to finishing touches was a good experience. They will have my business for my next en devour.
