Inspiration, a wordplay on the French coup d'etat inspired the concept we created as a visual expression of the innovative fusion cuisine for this restaurant-bar-nightclub. Taking advantage of the voluminous space and raw concrete of the "brutalist" structure, the design abstracts the struggle between culture and politics, while referencing the warmth and openness of Asia's indigenous cultures, to produce a sensual, exotic feel.
The boutique owner's vision of an elegant, inviting and comfortable store, offering a wide merchandise array, from "intimates" to bathing suits was the design cue for this versatile retail space. The ATMOSPHERE DESIGN LLC team conceived a series of visually connected "mini boutiques" for each location with distinctive category-specific display areas and inventory storage.
For this remodeling project, ATMOSPHERE DESIGN LLC focused on the "bones" to keep new construction to the minimum. Starting from the basic footprint of two boxes with a gable, the designers shaved away distracting shapes and reworked what had been a constrained layout into an open plan of simple elegance.
For this 4,000 square foot space, the challenge was to develop a calm, serene, and luxurious setting that would accommodate the needs of a full-service day spa. The design solution employed neutral colors to unify the space, richly patterned elements, and architectural accents to create a space that is practical and elegant.
