Owner of By Necessity Interior Design, Alice Karlstad grew up in the Chicago metropolitan area and later lived in the beautiful and historic town of Wellesley, Massachusetts in the greater Boston area before making her home in Knoxville, Tennessee for the last twenty-plus years. She has over seventeen years of professional interior design experience.
Whether you want a room makeover, color direction, finishing touches, a seasonal room refresher or a grand plan, I can work within your budget. I will gladly meet with you in your home or my office to define your personal style and create a timeline to suit your immediate needs as well as long term plans.
I have created custom window treatments, bedding and pillows for many of my clients for more than 15 years. I work with some of the best independent seamstresses in town, which enables me to offer customized products at reasonable prices. We can create a window treatment for any size and shape window including complementary bedding and pillows in the fabrics and trim of your choice.
