When it comes to updating your kitchen, you'll find yourself in one of four categories. Which category you end up in is one of the most important things we discuss at our first meeting - our Cuppa Meeting. We'll get together over a cup of coffee (or tea or hot chocolate!) and discuss your plans to change your living space.
If you're happy with most of the larger materials in your existing kitchen - like cabinets and appliances - and they're in good shape, then you might be thinking of a cosmetic kitchen update or what we call a Kitchen Refresh. Typically this involves making stylistic updates while not changing the major components.
If you are unhappy with the layout of your existing kitchen and want to move one or more appliances or the kitchen sink to a different location but will not be taking down or relocating walls, your project is most likely a Reconfigure kitchen. A Reconfigure Kitchen is considered a minor remodel. It can be every bit as messy and time consuming as a full fledged major remodel - or not - depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
Or maybe you just want to redirect traffic flow out of the cooking zone. Or you dream of creating an open floor plan by joining the kitchen to an adjacent room. Perhaps your kitchen isn't in an ideal location and you'd rather have it moved to another part of the home. When your kitchen doesn't match your lifestyle and your needs or is in need of major repair or expansion, remodeling can make all the difference.
Sometimes the layout of your existing bathroom works perfectly but your bathroom is simply outdated or not the style you want. If this is the case, you probably have a Pull & Replace bathroom. In this situation the plan is to remove everything and replace it with all new products and finishes. This means a complete demolition of the existing bathroom - all the way to the studs and the subfloor.
