Services
As part of its dedication to serving Lenawee County, the non-profit Adrian Armory Events Center is building a commercial kitchen for use by small food producers who would like to expand their sales beyond farm markets. The Kitchen will provide a health- department-licensed space with professional cooking equipment, commercial refrigeration units, and restaurant-grade sinks.
The Adrian District Library moved into its current location in 1978. The restrooms on the main floor and the children's mezzanine date from that time, and show their age. In addition to worn-out partitions and finishes, the restrooms are functionally outdated. They do not meet requirements for handicapped accessibility or offer modern amenities like baby-changing stations - in the women's AND men's rooms.
The City of Adrian has authorized a zoning overlay to allow for the growing, processing, and sale of medical marijuana. Black Raven Architects is currently designing renovations for two industrial buildings to be used as grow facilities. We have also developed conceptual drawings for a new provisioning center.
Several of the images are "sliders": they are before and after photos with a vertical bar that can be moved from side-to-side. Chaloner's, a tobacconist and magazine shop, was a legendary downtown Adrian destination for 141 years until it closed in 2015. A group of local investors purchased the building, at 108 W. Maumee, in the spring of 2017.
Brenda Rigdon led the design for this project while employed with the Adrian Design Group in Adrian, MI. The owners of this building used the MEDC Facade Improvement Grant Program to clean and restore masonry, repair and repaint tin window hoods, and install new second and third floor windows. The unfinished wood storefront was repaired and painted to reflect the personality of the two businesses, which both cater to children.
