Making a modern utopia out of previously owned furnishings. If you've gone shopping lately for new furnishings, you may have noticed the high prices many big box stores are asking for mass produced furnishings. Furnishings, that most likely have been made cheaply overseas with a shelf life of 3-5 years before deteriorating in some way.
Our approach to design is based in flexibility and accessibility. Everyone has the opportunity to live within beautiful surroundings. Fear of change and cost stop most from having their best life, but it's shouldn't be the case. Projects begin with a consultation where we get to know you and your home.
Saving the planet by taking previously owned furnishings and reviving their value through an innovative design approach, contributing to a circular economy that respects the conservation of our natural resources. I grew up with my family practicing upcycling, although we didn't call it that at the time.
I didn't set out to be a mask maker; I was called into action by a pandemic. Yes, I could have sat home, in my "shelter-in-place" mandate, reveling in pajamas all day, opting for zoom-style happy hours and adapting to a pseudo work/vacay kind of existence of online conference calls while the dog is barking in the background.
We are open by appointment. Why? It is to serve you better by focusing entirely on you and your project. We listen to your desires, give a tour of the showroom, heck we may even show you the back area where all the magic happens with the furniture! So don't be scared, we make it easier than you think and yes, that's by design.

Carter transformed an old worn little 1800's chair I had into a little piece of art. I knew it was going to be beautiful, but it totally exceeded my expectations. Carter is a genius at creating beautiful things from something old and giving them new life. He is also such a kind, fun, lovely person to work with. I can't wait to work with him again!

Marvelous and unique one of a-kind-pieces that become the center of attention your office or home. Each and every piece I have fallen in love with from Omforme has made an impression and been used for its intended purchase. My 2 office chairs, couch, dining table chairs and wool rug are worth the investment. Carter's talent and artistic eye are always on point and his ability to see the unseeable always blow my expectations away.

Omforme has been my go-to for years when I want to add a unique piece of furniture or accessory to my home, or purchase a special one-of-a-kind gift. My first purchase was a coffee table Carter made with hexagonal mirrored tiles. From then I was hooked. My next purchase was a gorgeous mid-century liquor cabinet. I've purchased elegant fun gifts for friends at Omforme -- tell Carter about the recipient and he has always had a number of great suggestions.

Amazing, unique and functional! My entire office is furnished with items from Omforme and I get so many compliments on each peice. With such reasonable prices, I can change things up every season too! Definitely a hidden gem in Uptown and worth the investment when you find the items that makes your heart skip a beat!

As a Wisconsin/Illinois transplant I am especially grateful for Carter's work. Omforme rescues old furniture, various recycled materials, and turns them into contemporary perfectly bold pieces! They are one of a kind and AMAZING! His Uptown location has a great availability of items that change daily but he will also do custom work that adheres to each clients personality and colors. Not only does he help save the earth by preventing furniture from going into landfills but he makes flaws stunning. I HIGHLY recommend Omforme!!
