Slagel Insulation
If comfort and energy-efficiency are important to you, Slagel Insulation's expert and certified spray foam insulation services are the answer you're looking for. Spray foam insulation offers a much more efficient and effective solution than traditional insulation materials.

Polyurethane was originally conceived in the 1930's but didn't see widespread use as home insulation until the first user-friendly spray foam machines were brought to market in the early 1960's.If your home was built during or before the 70's (and even to this day!), chances are you're ill-equipped with insufficient fiberglass or cellulose insulation.

These materials are far inferior to polyurethane foam insulation options. We here at Slagel Insulation are proud to be numbered among one of Illinois' earliest spray foam insulation companies in the industry - we began spraying foam in 1975! Our spray foam insulation crew is well trained to provide your home or commercial property with proper insulation that will optimize interior comfort and temperature control.
Services
Since 1975, Slagel Insulation has been spraying polyurethane foam. Starting life as a one-man operation, we've grown into a family owned company with many years' experience in the insulation and commercial roofing industries. We are a bit different than most other insulation contractors in that we insulate with spray polyurethane foam exclusively.
Cellulose and fiberglass were (and still are) the most common forms of insulation used before the invention of spray foam insulation. While both can offer some insulation value, they have numerous deficiencies and, when compared to spray foam insulation, their defects become even more glaringly obvious.
Q: What is spray foam? How does it work? SPF insulation is an excellent thermal insulator and stops air leaks through cracks, seams, and joints dead in their tracks. It is made by heating, mixing and reacting 2 liquid components (we call them Iso and Resin) at the job site to create foam. The liquids react very quickly when mixed, expanding on contact to create foam.
What are the differences between open and closed cell foam? In a nutshell: unless you're insulating for sound, closed cell is the better product: it doesn't absorb water (so no vapor barrier is needed), it adds strength and rigidity to the structure and it has a greater R-value per inch (which comes into play when the insulation cavity is shallow, i.e. 2x4 framing).
We used Slagel insulation for a number of jobs in our house and shop a few years back and have been very pleased. Last week I noticed a crack in the insulation developing on the ceiling of my shop. I called yesterday and darned if they didn't show TODAY to fix it. That is when you know you called the right guys.

Great communication - they talked through options and explained everything. And the final job was amazing! After I saw how fast and easy it went in and have had a few months to enjoy the results - I'm already planning on 2 more projects for them.

The work was done in a professional manner. In other words, when the foaming was completed, all the excessive foam was cut away and the framing was scraped of any excess foam so as not to interfere with the dry wall installation. I also liked that recommendations were made on how to prepare for the job and what they would do.

Slagel Insulation did an excellent job! Our upstairs bonus room stays warm even without any vents in it. During this polar vortex the room still stayed at 69! Unbelievable!
