We are in the middle of upgrading the parking lot lighting at several fast food restaurants in the area, changing from metal halide to LED. We have been changing the fixtures to energy efficient LED fixtures and cutting the energy usage to half or less of the existing fixtures. We are also bidding a project for an office park, installing LED retrofit kits in the existing parking lot fixtures.

The inside of the existing fixtures will change while the outer shell stays the same. This will save the customer 140 watts per fixture and will pay for itself in just under two years. We recently retrofitted six decorative light poles from 150 watt metal halide to 23 watt LED pucks. These pucks wired directly to the line voltage.

We disconnected and removed the existing 150 watt metal halide ballasts and lamps, removed the sockets and installed the retrofit kits. The customer should save over $400 per year in electric use alone for a less than $900 job! After the second year the retrofit will have paid for itself in energy savings alone.
