Eli Amitay Handyman

We hired Eli and his team on 2 separate occasions to do some work around our house. The heart of the jobs was removing an old built in bench seat, repairing some walls, and painting walls. Great work both times.

Emailed and called them to get a quote. They responded with very brief and vague response. Never bothered to schedule a visit. I guess either my project is too small or those dudes have lots of businesses in their plate. I won't recommended them or use them in the future.

Did a wonderful job - New tile kitchen floor and roof deck repairs. Very reasonably priced and left super clean work spaces. Can recommend without reservation.

Not able to service, said that they did not have a shop and could not build the custom closets we wanted.

Eli continues to support us through another challenging renovation project. We're looking forward to working with him again to finish it up!

From information and time he took to assess the work and provide options (underwent deck/balcony remodel in DC rowhome) to the timeline and estimate, to the quality of the work, and even to communication (via text and email)--Eli and his crew did an outstanding job.

So glad we hired Eli Amitay! He is a highly skilled carpenter with a creative eye and great attention to detail, who clearly takes pride in his work. We contacted Mr. Amitay (and a number of other contractors) about a unique and difficult project - building a 30-foot wooden ramp from our high deck to the ground for our elderly dog. Mr. Amitay created the most practical, functional, and visually appealing solution to our problem at a reasonable cost. He was careful to design the project in a way that kept the deck intact and made the ramp blend with its surroundings. He and his crew did an outstanding

I had Eli and his crew build a set of large bookshelves in my basement. It wasn't cheap -- real wood is expensive -- but I was impressed by Eli's passion for doing things the right way. There's no flex whatsoever in these shelves, and he blended in the trim in a surprisingly effective way. The final result exceeded my expectation. As an extra bonus, he got the job done fast. I found him on Yelp, and I wasn't disappointed.

Eli and his team built us a beautiful custom closet! He was easy to work with, on time, and paid great attention to details. I'd definitely recommend working with him!

This is absolutely NOT THE WAY TO DO BUSINESS.
I have been calling for 8 days straight (like 3-6 times a day ).
The first 7 days, I could not leave a voice mail...machine/voicemail was full.
On day 8, I was able to leave a voice message....that was 5 days ago...STILL NO RESPONSE FROM Eli Amitay.
I started calling about 7 weeks before I need to start the project....and it has been about 3-1/2 weeks now.
I even emailed hime...
For all those who got through, I would appreciate info on how you got through.
If business was or is so good, isn't it simple common sense to hire a receptionist or someone

Eli and his team (among other things) built some bookshelves in our hallway and living room. They look great...and more, they are strong. Eli said "you could climb these shelves" and he's right. High quality carpentry and good materials. And Eli was a pleasure to work with.

Unlike some shysters in the home imporvement/ contracting world, Eli is a person of great integrity. A smart man who stands by his word. Very helpful for all sorts of projects. He also is a good friend to have. He has very good connections and is a valuable asset to the DC area. 11 Stars all the way.

I contacted Eli after seeing several reviews on yelp and, as others have said, he was prompt, he showed up when he promised he would, he gave a very fair estimate and his team was professional, nice and came with all the tools they needed to get the job done.

Our wonderful puppy went through a chewing phase and took out our banister, some hardwood steps, a windowsill and lots of trim work along the floor.

Eli measured everything assured me it would all be fixed in a day, and sure enough there is now no sign the dog ever did any damage.

Mr Amitay wouldn't give a quote for replacing a front door. His exact response to my email inquiry was "Sorry we are very busy thanks."
I won't be reaching out to this company for anything again.

We have a small outdoor (dugout basement) area which was all concrete. We hired Eli to craft a wooden deck/floor. He did a fantastic job and even gave much needed advice about enlarging the (shower) drain our developer put in to better accommodate heavy rain fall. He is extremely professional, has excellent attention to detail, and his craftsmanship is superb. We are very happy with his work and would recommend him to anyone!

Love his work. His crew quickly and professionally repaired my drywall and painted my whole condo for a very reasonable price.

Great work repairing drywall on ceiling after leak repair. Cost 300 to repair (see before and after attached). Offered to paint as well with provided paint. Would recommend
