Began working first as a field superintendent, then later as an estimator for a local custom builder. He broke ground on his very first home (it happened to be for himself) in the summer of 1985. It was a 1,800 square foot brick colonial in Lake Forest, Illinois. It was the first of over 100 new homes that he has built in the Lake Forest community.

Although they primarily focused on custom home building, they later developed a passion for renovations and remodeling projects which often involved room additions. During the course of the 25-year partnership, they built multiple homes for the same clients, for the siblings of clients, the children of clients and even built homes for other custom home builders!

Bob thoroughly enjoys the daily, one-on-one interactions he shares with his customers. He appreciates the opportunities to participate in the design and selection process and lends the knowledge he has gained in his 35 years in the custom home industry. From the moment Bob first arrives on-site, he looks ahead to trading ideas, sharing budgets and goals and agreeing on a plan moving forward.
Services
A project manager runs all aspects of the real estate project. This includes everything from the initial planning, site selection and analysis, design, procurement, construction and the physical move. The project manager is responsible for the project budget and schedule.
There are many reasons for wanting to expand your living space. New family members can call for an additional bedroom, while some of our clients simply want to maximize their home's aesthetic potential. We make sure to pay attention to every detail, not just the big picture. It is important to us that your new home addition adheres closely to the vision you had before starting the project.
Home additions must be built with expertise to ensure they blend with your existing architecture and require quality workmanship to fulfill the investment you're making in your home. Adding onto your home is a perfect way to make the home you love more livable with expanded space indoors or outdoors.
Renovation means "restore to a good state of repair." In other words, dilapidated buildings or poorly maintained houses are sometimes considered to be in a state of disrepair. To renovate a house or building means to resurrect that structure from a state of disrepair. Remodel means "to change the structure or form of something."
I purchased a house with partial Dryvit and was dreading the process of having it removed and replaced with stucco. Thankfully I decided to hire Bob Salm of Cotswold Builders. He oversaw the project and coordinated the trades so that the job was done on time and within budget. Bob was excellent in his selection of various subcontractors and made wonderful suggestions that saved money without sacrificing quality and appearance.
