I founded this company because I'm passionate about building science and helping people live a better quality life through improved comfort, improved air quality and improved energy efficiency. The average electricity bill in South Carolina, about $180/month, is the 3rd highest in the US and is over 23% greater than the national average? It's not your fault really; it's just: you need more home insulation and air sealing in your attic and crawlspace. In addition, when your home is properly air sealed and insulated, you will enjoy better air quality, comfort and efficiency!
According to data collated by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), Georgia homes had an average yearly energy expenditure of $2,067 in 2009. In fact, the EIA also reports that Georgia homes are one of the few in the country which apportions 30% and 10% of its energy consumption for space heating and air conditioning.
80% of "insulation companies" are not trained on the benefits of air sealing and insulating together correctly. That's bad news for home owners. Insulation that is blown in or laid in is not designed to stop air flow. There are special dense packed blow in insulation types that are designed to stop air flow, but the majority are designed to stop the movement of energy (conduction) not the flow of air (convection).

Excellent work and great communication. Ms. Sandy was super friendly and talked me through the entire process and was flexible when it came to my scheduling. Levi was very knowledgeable and professional. Gabe, Simon and Luis did amazing with the insulation. Gabe answered any question I had and made sure to walk me through what they were doing. Levi was awesome. He took the time to educate me and to give me solutions to my water humidity problems versus selling me a product that would not have solved my problem. Paul and his team are fantastic! They came and performed an energy test on my home and saw what my old house needed. They immediately went to work sealing up openings in the attic, wall, and under the sinks to stop the energy loss! My light bill was $256 before they sealed everything up. The next light bill I received was $135! I saw an immediate return!

Extremely professionally run company. Paul, the owner took the time to fully evaluate the problems with my leaky attic and crawl space. Not a “one size fits all” solution, which would have cost substantially more than it took Performance Energy to properly address the problems. Attention to detail was terrific and communication was top notch throughout the project, which in my opinion, you don’t see that often anymore with contractors today. In addition to the lower cost to fix my issues, the saving on energy bills going forward has been significant. I would highly recommend this company

This is the second job I have used this company for. I bought an older home that had literally no insulation and the vapor barrier wasn’t in place. Levi came out and did some tests and guaranteed I could get a large rebate on getting insulation and sealing up the house. These guys did an awesome job and as promised, the rebate came last week from Georgia Power. Not to mention our power bill was only around 140 dollars in the hottest part of the summer. When they were under the house the also told me I had water under there. We had a bad storm with heavy rain and we had little rivers everywhere

If you are looking for an individual to evaluate your home from a Building Science perspective then you have found the right guy in Paul Hoover. I was very fortunate to have found his company. Paul did an excellent job in evaluating all HVAC issues that I was having with my home. He was diligent in his review of technical and construction issues with my attic insulation and ventilation as well as the crawl space. We had a big moisture problem in our house, to the point we were getting mold/mildew growth on the ceiling of our guest bathroom. Levi came and did a walkthrough of our place and immediately diagnosed what our issues were and the steps Performance Energy would take to correct our issue.
We schedule the service about 2 weeks out from the initial visit but they ended up having an opening earlier so they came out early. The installers were very professional and worked extremely hard for hours with no complaints. Even though they had to shift a ton of stuff we had stored in our attic we had zero complaints

Needed the insulation in our crawl space re-hung/replaced. I had four estimates and Performance was the only company that identified a leak in our shower pan drain. and suggested we repair that before any work is done. Had the plumbing repair completed last week and Performance was out yesterday doing the work. Gabe was very professional, and he and his team member did an exceptional jo. They asked if I wanted to view the completed work, and I went into the crawl to look at the work they did. Very well done and I would definitely recommend. I am so impressed with the professionalism and profiencey of performance energy. The owner Paul came out to check my issue. He was honest and upfront. He arranged services for the next morning which I appreciate since it was a issue with my ac ducts which made the heat in the home unbearable. The next morning Gabe came out and fixed the issue. Gabe was polite and professional. He did an awesome job! I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Performance Energy installed new insulation and radiant barrier in our attic last fall. I wanted to wait until the heat really got here to leave a review so that it would be an honest one. We couldn’t be happier! Paul was very professional and honest when doing the initial quote. Our energy usage is down 30% from a year ago, and our home is so much more comfortable now. His crew were super nice folks, cleaned up behind themselves, and were very skilled at their job. Best company I’ve dealt with by far and I highly recommend them.
