ALGERNON SCOTT, is a lead certified paint contractor who has been in the residential and commercial painting business for over 25 years for the New England area. A native of Virginia, Algernon moved to Marlborough, MA at the age of 18 and entered the paint contracting business just two years later.
After three years in the trade, Algernon became the Lead Foreman of a very successful contracting business in the Marlborough area. Dedicated to perfecting his craft and prowess with a brush, Algernon took the next 11 years to build an impressive database of very satisfied customers. In 2011, Algernon left Edwardson Painting to venture out on his own.
With no investors aside from his wife, Algernon toiled over the druthers of creating a business from the ground up. Finally, in July of 2012, he officially launched Al the Painter, LLC, a lucrative small business. Services include matching the new stucco with the old stucco to insure that the colors match perfectly. We did a major home renovation: new ceilings, walls, floors, kitchen etc. The plaster company we hired did an AWFUL job. The walls were bumpy and crumbling. So I knew I needed a METICULOUS painter to repair the drywall and paint our walls and ceilings (we have 20-foot ceilings, btw).

Al and his crew (ATP) did a wonderful job working on the interior of our home. We live in a 3rd generation family home that was built in the late 40's, and the den ceiling had been treated with Calcimine. What a nightmare: it bubbled every time it was painted, no matter what brand or type of paint! My husband is a very skilled painter himself, so he appreciated how ATP took 4 days to painstakingly remove the original paint, scrape and treat, and finally repaint. The final product is perfect. They also painted upstairs hall and the main bedroom that 3 boys shared for 20 years. Let's just say the

Al and his crew were terrific! We have a house that is just shy of 100 years old, and they knew all the little tricks of the trade to overcome the nuances of an older home. We were in desperate need of interior work/paint, and now it feels like a brand new house! Al worked with us on colors, and put a lot of thought in what would be best as far as materials and look. I highly recommend Al for any interior/exterior painting or staining. Since buying out home over 2 years ago we have used Al and his team on many home projects and the results have always been amazing. See the pictures as he transformed our kitchen by painting the cabinets and center island. We have hired Al to paint on three separate occasions. He painted the entire interior of our first home. He was there for long hours to make sure all was complete in time for us to move in. The transformation was incredible. The old woodwork certainly showed signs of age and was absolutely perfect when Al and his crew were done.

I couldn't have been more happy with Al and his crew. His pricing was very fair, and the quality of the work, the professionalism was outstanding. You would never know that the cabinets were repainted. Al and the crew taped off everything, made sure everything was checked and rechecked. A great job. I would highly recommend Al for cabinet painting, and I am sure painting of any kind.

I have been working with Al for many years. He has done every paint project in my house over many years and continues to do new projects as well. He has always been responsive and his work can’t be described as anything but excellent. He just finished a lower level project in my almost 100 year old house and transformed the entire 3 rooms including the wash room !!! It’s unrecognizable .His crew is equally as professional and I trust them completely in my home even when I’m not there. Can’t say enough about the whole group!!!

Al and his crew completed a large scale interior paint job on my house in March. They are truly amazing. Al helped me narrow down the focus and scale of the job and had great input throughout the experience. The crew of workers couldn't have been nicer and more diligent. This is my first house and they made a hectic renovation process easy by being extremely flexible and going the extra mile when necessary. We hired Al the Painter to paint the entire exterior of our house. They began prep work on the agreed upon day which took several days due to the thoroughness of the crew. The painting itself went smoothly ,despite the oppressive July heat. They were here every day at 7:00 am and spent the whole day working. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
