Services
Radiant plumbing and hydronic heating have been the Schefer's passion for over 50 years. But it all really started in 1945 when Brad's great grandfather founded Walter Schefer Plumbing and Heating. Brads grandfather, Mel Schefer, learned the plumbing trade working along side his father in the late 1950s and founded Mel Schefer Plumbing in 1961.
We are working with Burbank Housing to update over 50 homes in the Gray's Meadow Santa Rosa affordable housing development. We are replacing outdated water heaters with efficient Baxi duo tec 40 combi boilers that not only provide domestic hot water but serve to heat the homes using hydronic radiant heating systems.
It's the little things - and hot water!- that count. When I described the problem we were having with our hot water and low water pressure, Tom knew exactly what I was talking about, diagnosed the problem, and gave us a solution that worked wonders. We thought we would need to replace our sixty+ year old pipes and, since we can't afford to do that anytime soon, we were feeling very discouraged.

I forgot to write a review after Schefer Radiant replaced our aging heating system boiler this past summer because we didn't need our system yet. But now that it's gotten cold and we are nice and warm in the house, I remembered why. Brad is third generation in the business and his uncle had installed our system originally decades ago. Another company had done a good job of keeping the aging system going for years, but it was finally time to replace it before it failed, and the full replacement was beyond them. We got several estimates, and Brad's seemed the most honest and knowledgeable

I called Schefer about a water heater replacement and he gave great advice (which involved not replacing the water heater aka no business for them) -- I can't express how much I appreciate this kind of honesty. If they treat a non-customer with such care, I can only imagine how thoughtful they would be for an actual customer.

Really unhelpful. My elderly mother's water heater isn't working, the hot water turns off after about two minutes. So Shefter sent someone out to take a look (charged a couple hundred dollars), decided they didn't know how to fix it, and said we should find someone else. We've worked with them before, and have had water heater issues throughout the time, They've never managed to fix it! found out today they never contacted the company about the warranty, and are claiming our entire water heater is "ruined" because we had some iron in the water for a couple months

As soon as I moved into my new home, my radiant heating broke down. I started phoning plumbers and was amazed at how little they were interested in new business and the exorbitant rates they charged just to give an estimate ($145).
But when I phoned TSP Plumbing, I was happy to find a whole new attitude. They were friendly, helpful, and I found out they are a small family business.
Tom came and fixed my heating system 2 days later. He was very professional, and explained clearly what he was doing. The price wasn't cheap ($700) but he did replace the old pump and added a few more small
