Based in Centralia WA, Raymond Lam launched Silk Road Environmental in 2009 to address the needs of affordable, environmentally friendly products. We believe that conservation of our energy is important, and where possible, we should reduce the non-renewable energy used, conserving it for future generations.

We sell products that are designed by Silk Road Environmental, for the North American Market. Each year, we seek and develop new designs and technologies that will benefit our clients, and the environment. The design modifications are based on feedback from installers, industrial and commercial clients, home builders and homeowners.

We can install the entire system, provide supervision and/or inspection services for your crew, or just sell you the components to install it yourself. Our warehouse is based in Centralia WA. Silk Road Solar, a division of Silk Road Environmental, has been involved in the largest solar hot water systems in Washington State and Idaho.

Silk Road Environmental offers consulting services, including grant writing and permitting, for corporations. Silk Road Solar can service many systems that are installed by others, such as flatplate or glycol based systems. Silk Road helped write the USDA REAP grant for the solar hot water and energy and water recovery project for Inaba farms, located in Wapato, WA.

Products Report

Silk Road Solar sells solar water heaters, using solar tubes that are more efficient at heating than photovoltaic solar. Dimensions approx: 62 3/8" wide, 78" long, 60" high, 59 1/2" deep if mounted on at 45 degrees. Phase change material utilizes the heat of fusion of a non-toxic material in order to maintain a set temperature.

Ray is awesome. Nothing strikes terror into my heart quicker than water leaking and when it's on my roof, I'm a wreck. These repairs are totally outside my limited repair expertise. When I first spoke with Ray about a leak in the solar heating system for our swimming pool, we made an appointment for week out. He then called the next day, saying he had finished another job early and could look at ours in 10 minutes. He showed up promptly and fixed the leak even quicker. I couldn't be more impressed. Great job, great price, great person--we highly recommended Silk Road Environmental.

I can not say enough regarding Ray Lam's knowledge, skill set and dedication. I had a fairly complicated system to install and Ray was incredible about design, implementation, installation, follow through and support. Also, Ray is a great communicator and will train and educate you on the fly. Ray is also an excellent listener and so very easy to work with. I recommend Ray and Silk Road Solar without hesitation or reserve.

I agree with all the glowing reviews for Ray. My solar hot water system has had very few problems in the 6 years I've had it, but when I've called Ray he usually answers or calls right back and helps over the phone or comes out and fixes the problem. You couldn't find a nicer guy to do business with. Thanks for always being there Ray.

I give Ray and Silk Road Environmental LLC my highest recommendation!! The service that I received was truly exceptional!! I needed my system to be repaired so that I could accept an offer and sell my house and he was there the next morning! In just a few hours he had the system working perfectly and ever certified it for the new owners. He was a genius at diagnosing my complicated solar and infloor heating system and was very honest, provided great information (even a operations manual for the new owners) and did not charge much for his services. My husband and I cannot say enough good things about Ray Lam, we would rate him a 10 out of 5 if we could! He installed our solar water system a few years ago. He did a great job, from start to finish. From finding the best location for the system through getting it installed into a complicated existing system that had been modified when the house had an addition put on. During the installation, everything went smoothly and the cleanup did too. Unlike many contractors, Ray educated us all along the way, even after the installation. We have emailed him a few times and he promptly calls us to answer

I've been chatting with Ray Lam (owner) since 2011. It's so rare and such a benefit to be able to speak with, to work with the owner of a local company. To work with someone who gives freely of his expertise and encouragement for the client's project. Ray has a CAN DO outlook and it's contagious. Ray Thinks Globally and Acts Locally, creating local jobs in manufacturing and installation. Not-to-mention offering job training for youth in the Renewable Energy market.
