I learned the basics of carpentry at the knee of my grandfather, a tool and die maker. His guidance sparked a lifelong love of designing and building things. My first career was creating virtual worlds in the computer games industry, but I've always been happiest in the real world of sawdust and wood shavings.
I started Evans Renovation because I saw the need for a new kind of remodeler: one who can handle all the tasks on your home improvement list and design and build that special project that turns your house into a custom home.

John Dufficy is an excellent craftsman and designer. We hired him to do cabinet work for our very busy architectural firm. John was able to execute and build beautiful casework with very little direction, since we are so busy we couldn't prepare proper plans! He worked around our 12 hour a day schedule so that office disruption was minimal. I highly recommend Dufficy Fine Carpentry.

Evans Renovation is the best carpenter and cabinet maker in Seattle. Not only did he build functional and attractive shelves in our home, he created a beautiful handmade dining room table for us (and I know he has other furniture that he makes too). John was communicative, friendly, transparent, and easy to work with -- I would highly recommend Evans Renovation!

I was so impressed with Evans Renovation, I felt I needed to write a review, even though I live in New Hampshire. I was at my sister's in Seattle while John Evans worked on her home project. John was building her a TV stand and some built-ins. The table was so unique, with wood grains going in different directions on the drawers, and finishing it in several stain colors. It was a work of art. The built-ins are fabulous, and the craftsmanship is old school. John kept asking us questions, to make sure he was interpreting my sister's needs accurately.

I could not be happier with John and Evans Renovation! We hired John to build us custom built-in bookcases in our living room. He was wonderful throughout the entire process. We had excellent communication via email and phone, he was on-time, careful throughout installation, and cleaned up better than I ever could! John's also just a nice, friendly guy to have around your house - he's very considerate and even asked me when my son napped so he could get the noisier work out of the way before nap time! He also bought my son a book so he could put something on the new shelves when they

John did some work on my rafters and installation work in my kitchen, and I can't say enough good things about him. He is *exceptional* on every measure. Really. Here's what impressed me about him:
* Smart & does things right - on his own initiative, he spent the time to actually research the details of what kinds of rafter tails and facia are used in different Craftsman designs before doing the work on my eaves.
* Creative & a great sense of design - he's got an eye for what looks good. (And if you've ever worked with a sub-contractor who doesn't, you know

John did some really great, original work for us. We asked him to build a set of stairs and, a railing plus some closets/shelves underneath the stairs in our office. The twist was that we wanted him to use some old beams we had lying around and we wanted him to complement those old beams with other wood that would look similarly rustic. John had the fantastic idea to use foraged wood as part of the railings (which he foraged himself) and took the time to experiment with them until we found a look that worked for us. All our friends consider the work he did to be a work of art, not merely functional
