I, Gary Spolar, founded Century Chimney in 1988 when I was working my way through College. I soon realized that there was a great need for this service, and took the business full time. I have been working full time as a chimney professional since then, and have taken many classes to educate myself and my employees on chimney and fireplace cleaning and chimney / fireplace repair related subjects.
All chimneys should be evaluated yearly and cleaned as required. The evaluation is necessary to ensure the chimney has adequate draft, is free of debris and cracks, and has no loose or missing mortar joints. Prefabricated chimneys are always subject to vibration from wind and joints can become misaligned.

I had an emergency where my hot water tank was nit venting properly and leaking carbon monoxide into my home, there was obviously a blockage in my chimney. I reached out to century chimney through Google and received a reply immediately. They were booked up for the next few months but he was able to get a crew to my house the following day and get my chimney cleared out. The price was very reasonable and I am so happy to have found a wonderful company that I would recommend to anybody and will continue to use as long as I own my home!

My wife and I recently purchased a new house that has a wood burning fireplace that the prior owners had never used. We decided that it would be a very good idea to have the chimney inspected and cleaned as we did not want to have a chimney fire the first time we fired it up. Because of the outstanding work that Century Chimney had done for us in the past, they were the only ones that we called for this job. Century Chimney is a great company!! They are certified and super knowledgeable and the work they do is very professional. I had issues with my chimney on and off for for many years. Century Chimney is the first company to actually fix the problem. And trust me, we have had a lot of rain this season and I kept my ceiling open to make sure it is actually fixed. Not a drop of water!

I normally don’t post reviews, but this company has earned public praise. Our chimney was badly deteriorated. I received several quotes with totally different approaches. I was honestly hesitant to go with Century because of cost. However, after a lot of research into companies (some of whom had F ratings with BBB) and approaches, I decided to go with Century and a rebuild. This is an extremely well-run operation. Century Chimney installed a 12x12 Locktop damper on 1/8/21 for our gas fireplace chimney. Noah Reed and John McDonough were the technicians. Noah and John were outstanding. Gary and Josh arrived on time and got right to work. No mess left inside the house or out. Gary noticed our chimney cap was sliding down. He gave me a couple options of what to do and we agreed on a fix using the cap we had. Everything is clean and in working order and ready for safe fires in the fall. I recommend this company.

I would highly recommend Gary from Century Chimney Sweep. I recently purchased a house, my first with real fireplaces, and Gary took the time to explain all the details of operation and gave me some tips on general upkeep. They were super clean and punctual as well.
