A terrible storm caused lightning to strike a nearby tree. The large branch broke from the tree and landed on top of our customer's chimney, causing it to crack in half! It was a dangerous situation. Evanston Masonry was able to safely remove the tree, then rebuild the chimney to restore the building's integrity.
When's the last time you took a good look at your building's walls? If the space between the bricks is wearing away, you'll need us to fill in the areas with fresh mortar to prevent moisture from coming in! We'll be happy to walk your property with you and give you an expert assessment of your buildings' needs.
Customer's garage was slowly deteriorating from the bottom, so they asked us to repair the damage, also to prevent rodents from entering the property. Above your windows and doorways, there is a structural member supporting the weight above it (the Lintel). If you see cracks in your walls coming from this area, you'll need us to replace the Lintel.

Eric and the team of masons did a great job on my 110 year old Evanston landmark home. They were professional and always took the time to explain what they recommended doing. We needed to get the work done before weather turned cooler. They did a fantastic job matching brick and cleaning up the existing limestone plinth. I checked their work later with a level and they did what they were supposed to do by moving water away from the structure. During the construction, they had three guys working constantly over several days to optimize their time and limit the time we had an opening to the outside

Not just the nicest masonry contractors, but the nicest contractors of all trades I've ever met! Gary and crew are extremely knowledgeable and experienced in what they do. Gary was extremely patient to educate me about the nature of the job and explain things in detail. Eric and other crew are also extremely helpful. Highly recommend!

Evanston Masonry was worth every penny. We needed to replace the limestone step leading up to our house, tuckpoint our brickwork, and seal around the perimeter of our house. Initially, I went with the lowest-cost contractor I could find, and they did a terrible job: They just threw a bunch of cement in random places and called it a day. Thank heavens I found Evanston Masonry. Not only did they do a great job addressing our initial needs, but they even powerwashed and cleaned up the mess left by the first contractor. I wish I had just gone with Evanston Masonry from the start.

Had Evanston Masonry do a full rebuild of our chimney. We felt the price was fair. Dropped off multiple samples of bricks to choose from. Communication on the project leading up to, during and afterwards was superb. The crew was neat and tidy. The finished product is excellent. Thankful we found a good crew to repair our chimney.

I cannot say enough positive about the Evanston Masonry team. They were great from first contact to the end of the project. They rebuilt or front porch balustrade, identifying right from the start the problems with the original construction and outlined a plan for rebuilding it correctly. They showed up on time and couldn't have been better, communicating with me at each step along the process. I've been in a slow remodel of an old house for a number of years. My initial contractor completely messed up installation of windows inset in brick - to the point that I had no clue if it could be fixed. Gary stopped by one day when I was working in my yard and it's one of the most serendipitous encounters I've ever made. He knew the neighborhood and congratulated me on the progress I'd made. Evanston Masonry rebuilt our chimney and did some spot tuck pointing for us. When I had questions about the scope of work they came out a second time after the initial visit to look at the house and answer my questions. They really put an effort into finding just the right brick for the chimney, and the work is impeccable. It's hard to tell where the tuckpointing was even done! Fair price too. Eric was very communicative throughout the process.

We had Evanston Masonry repair the brickwork along the bottom of our home in May of 2018. Two years later it still looks great! This company was a pleasure to work with and did a thorough cleaning job at the end of each day. They clearly explained everything they needed to do to complete the job, there were no surprises. We needed an inspection, Eric forwarded his insurance certificate quickly, and showed up with his associate and did the inspection; everything was timely and professional. The area he looked at turned out to be fine; Eric didn't try to sell us services we didn't need and we are grateful for that. As a result, we will be back to Evanston Masonry the next time we need tuckpointing. Very solid company.

Gary and his whole crew are great and were a pleasure to work with. The brick stairs to the front door of my house were starting to crumble and need to be rebuilt. Gary came by and took some pictures and later that day I receive an email with the proposal. A few days later they were here working and the result looks amazing. We get complements all the time.

These guys are terrific. We had to have our roof worked on, but the roofer said the chimney needed to be fixed first. With winter coming on we weren't sure we could get the chimney done, but Eric and Gary worked us in to their busy schedule and found time to completely rebuild our chimney. The brick work is first rate, it looks beautiful, the workers were amazingly neat and tidy, no clean up needed at all. We couldn't be happier. Gary is a true master at his craft - an expert who genuinely cares. We live in a century old home and we knew our chimney needed help . . . we just didn't realize how much help it was going to need. On top of that, the parapet wall above our garage was at risk of totally collapsing because the steel holding it up had completely corroded. Evanston Masonry was top notch! Extremely responsive and communicative. We needed a chimney rebuild and they took care of it within a week of the order. The project was much less expensive than I anticipated and Gary and the team were so friendly and helpful. I needed repairs on several areas where the brick and the sidewalk meet around my house. Gary and his crew did excellent work. They came on time, worked through the day, and cleaned up before they left. Not only was I walked around the house with explanations of what needed to be done before the work, but Gary returned after the crew left to walk around the house again to make sure I was satisfied. Gary & his crew at Evanston Masonry did an incredible job with our stone façade home. It is a relatively new home (5 years old) and needed a bit of routine maintenance. Gary walked us around, thoroughly explaining what needed to be done and what to keep an eye on. After finishing the work, he walked us around the house again pointing out exactly what was done.
