The Chimney Chiefs are your local and friendly chimney sweeps that service the Truckee-Tahoe area. The Chimney Chiefs is owned and operated by a retired firefighter who has first hand knowledge of how chimney fires start and what needs to be done to prevent them. With this knowledge and experience, we ensure that we are cleaning and servicing your chimney and fireplace with the goal to prevent a fire, keep you safe and.
We use ladders to access the chimney from the roof so we can clean from the top down. We remove the cap and thoroughly clean it removing any built up creosote. We also clean the spark arrestor. We often find that some chimneys don't have a spark arrestor so we will instal a new one. Every chimney cap should have a spark arrestor to stop sparks escaping from the chimney and starting a fire.

Post that, Haupert was the lead wild land trying guy as well as lead chain saw safety guy with the North Tahoe Fire Protection District in Tahoe City.

Billy and Emma of the Chimney Chiefs are fantastic! They were able to come out on short notice to get on the roof and clean the chimney cap. They have fair prices, are quick and all about safety, take before and after photos, and are super professional. Billy and Emma are the best. Every other chimney service was a month out but they fit me in 2 days out. The smoke was not going up the chimney and we couldn't make a fire which is a major heat source in our house. There was some type of blockage which was cleared by B and E. They answered my call, called me back to schedule a day and followed up with a text. Great communicators and very reasonably priced considering the work that they did! They worked hard, were very neat, respectful of our house and wore masks. Billy is a retired fire fighter so he was comfortable on our very steep roof.

Billy is amazing. I found him via Yelp when I had an issue with my fireplace. He spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with me and offered to come by to look at the issue with no charge. And, he picked up the phone over the weekend and was trying to be accommodating to my schedule. I would definitely recommend him for any needs you have.

Hire them! Billy and Emma are fantastic. They went above and beyond on our chimney sweep, installed a new spark arrester and fire brick and gave us a quote to replace some loose screws in the roof. Their prices were totally reasonable, and they did an incredibly thorough job. Will definitely hire them again in the future.

Billy and Emma showed up on a very last minute call, we were in the middle of a home inspection to purchase when the inspector found a crack in the chimney, I called several local chimney companies-all were booked into December! When I called Billy (retired fireman) he happened to be working in a job 10 min away and agreed to come over and take a look (no charge) he called later that evening with a very reasonable bid to both repair and clean the chimney. Apparently, he also does Fire abatement clearance of trees/brush, we intend to use him for that as well. By the way, his employees are all firemen

I was charged $500 to clean chimney, chimney flue, and replace the spark arrestor.
During the pre-work site visit, I was very clear that I need assurance and the main objective to do the work was to get my wood stove up to code so I can use it again.
In reading the company website, it states "offering professional, trustworthy, and safe services" so I figured I was in good hands.
In asking for documentation to prove wood stove was up to code after work was completed, Chimney Chiefs wouldn't provide it.

We found Chimney Chiefs through the business service One Ruf, (see my review), and we couldn't be more pleased with the results! Bill is a retired fire fighter, and he only uses retired and off-duty fire fighters as his crew, so they know what they are doing with your chimney!
He was incredibly thorough with our fireplace, much more so than any other chimney sweep we've ever had do our fireplace. Billy did a great job with the old Chimney in our new-to-us home. Super easy and responsive scheduling, he came in and took care of everything, leaving the fireplace spotless. He even did some trouble shooting on the fan switch - something that's been annoying me since we moved in. He kept everything clean and free of dust and was great around our barking puppy. Highly recommend.
