Rick of Finesse painting was referred to us by our contractor (bathroom, part kitchen remodel). We have an old Victorian flat that needed(s) tons of work! With such an old house, lathe and plaster, etc - Rick knew exactly what to do to camouflage all our plaster issues! This was no easy task! He was also incredibly knowledgeable about which finishes to use where, and why.

As a college student on a budget, I was looking for long lasting home improvement at a competitive price. Rick and his team went above and beyond for me, from color consulting and helping me pick samples to efficient setup and cleanup every day in the kitchen, living room, and exterior. They were clean and polite, and my house was in beautiful working order in no time. Rick helped me design the feature wall for my front room and painted my new fence to last. This review isnt about the work itself but instead about setting up an estimate for an exterior house painting. I contacted the company and after a few back and forth time suggestions, one was settled on to do a walkthrough. Unfortunately, on the scheduled day, an hour passed and nobody came. I did not receive any notification or email or phone call so I contacted the company to let them know no one showed up. A few hours later, I received a reply saying they messed up and asked if I could suggest a few times for a reschedule. Maybe an apology would have been better. No one likes to get stood

Finesse Painting did a very good job with the exterior of our house. Rick (the owner) was proactive and easy to communicate with in all aspects of the job - scheduling a first visit, getting a quote, organizing permits and scaffolding - and updated us on the progress throughout the job.
The workmanship of his team is really good and they are attentive to details and suggest improvements. And the 5 year warranty adds peace of mind!
Great experience all around! Would definitely hire them again!

Finesse painted our home this month, April 2019. We had looked for options on several apps but found Finesse here on yelp. We'd talked with others, but selected Finesse because Richard the owner communicated well, knew his stuff when it comes to painting, had some helpful suggestions, and was forthright. The reviews on yelp and pics on his website also helped us say yes.
Our home is a 120 year old Victorian cottage and hadn't been painted in many years. The decades old dark green paint was deteriorating in several areas and some were very difficult to access; we are also at the top

Stop reading Yelp reviews and call Rick if you need to make any exterior or interior look new with paint. Rick and his team just finished our building exterior and it looks like a new building (and we no longer hold the title, "ugliest building on the block" quite the opposite). He fully explains the trade-offs of different paint qualities, color and type (flat vs shiny for example). His work is efficient, high-quality and his people are polite, professional, and very neat. I used Finesse to paint our building's lobby and stairwells, which needed a fresh coat after a few years of normal wear and tear. Richard (the owner) is a blunt man who tells it like it is and was always accessible via text. His crew was lightning fast but no corners were cut. Their pricing was low enough to be competitive and high enough to reflect their quality but not so high as to constitute gouging like some of the other companies I got bids from.

I found Finesse on Yelp and compared them to several other contractors. Their price was competitive and they could do it the same season, instead of having to waiting a year as with most of the others.
Overall they were an extremely professional crew, worked hard and fast, and completed the exterior painting of my house (Victorian, 4 sides, single color) in less than 10 days.
I am very pleased with the end result. They did a great job and cleaned everything up afterwards. I could not fault them on anything.
Highly recommended.

This is a somewhat strange review, as I did not end up having Rick do the work. I contacted Finesse Painting along with some other painters on Yelp - Rick was extremely prompt in his response, and was accommodating in scheduling a time to come look at the project. He arrived on time, and it turned out we weren't a good fit (we were looking for a very small, prep-for-sale project). Rick was very respectful and explained why it wouldn't be a good fit, never made me feel bad for basically wasting his time, and he even gave me great recommendations for who would be a better fit. Top notch

Finesse Painting Co. painted the exterior of my family's single story duplex that I manage in SSF. I'v worked w a lot of contractors of all types.
Rick is very descent as a person & easy to work w/ if u wanna get the job done.
I found him from seeing his truck a few times around SF, as my usual painter that I trusted was booked.
I was very nervous thru out this job since I'd never worked w/ Rick before. & I don't trust yelp reviews (I think @ the extremes people vent or embellish).
In the end I'm grateful that he fit me into his schedule. His crew was

Over the last 30 years in my house, I've repainted four times. In comparison, Rick and crew provided the best experience and result.
Rick kept me up to date on scheduling and set clear expectations. My landscaping was minimally disturbed. Crew kept worksite clean. Detailed prep work and quality products should help this paint job last and maintain the water barrier.Clean lines and hardly a paint drip to be found.

Rick is a straight shooter. I really appreciated that. I've ready some reviews that said he's rude. Not true. But he tells you the truth. Not just what you want to hear. A big plus in my opinion. Rick and the team was always on time each day. They completed the work on time and my apartment is looking so good. I'd certainly hire them again.

Rick had painted a house for me that was in a very difficult location previously so I decided to use him again to paint the exterior of another house in a difficult spot. The house is on Lombard St. on a steep hill going up to the curvy section. Some of the difficulties included scaffolding on a steep hill over the sidewalk, non-stop tourists walking beneath it, cars backed up solid on the street, and a building covered in grime from all of the exhaust put out by the non-stop traffic. Our neighbors hired Rick and his team to paint their Victorian cottage and had a great experience. After receiving bids from several other painters, we decided to do the same. We hired Finesse to repaint the exterior of our converted Victorian 5-unit condo, and we're happy we did.
Rick communicated rapidly and clearly from beginning to end. His team's work, including prep and paint, was excellent, reasonably priced and done on time. His color consulting was valuable and helpful. I'd happily recommend Finesse Painting and use them again.

I want to start out saying we contacted and (eventually) got bids from many Paint Companies for out 1904 Victorian, which was in dire need of not only a face lift, but a makeover to show its innate beauty. None of the Painter Co's were as prompt or communicative as Rick, the owner of Finesse Painting. I figured that was a good sign, and I was right. A good start that only got better....Finesse was able to get us on the schedule on our timing, not theirs, very flexible indeed. The next thing we noticed was their attention to detail and throroughness in the prep, truly above and beyond.

Rick and team just did a fantastic job painting our two-unit Edwardian. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first. What was he doing joking around so much about our $20,000+ job? And what was with the all the BRIGHT colors in his portfolio? But honestly, I think it's all because Rick is such a customer-focused guy. He wants to make you comfortable with jokes and guide you in the right direction, but ultimately he'll do whatever you wish for you paint job (including paint your windows bright red).
In our case, we went for a more neutral color palette, and Rick was very patient as we dithered
