Started in 1985, Escalera Pest Control is a family business owner and run by Heather and Fred Swetman with their 8 children. Heather got her start as an X-Ray Technician working at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura County and after 15 years, now shows off her business management talent in this Woman-owned family business.
Serving the Central Coast since 1985 with same day service in Santa Barbara, Ventura and Fillmore. Heather says that she learns something new every day in her new industry and she enjoys meeting new people. Heather's favorite thing in life is helping others, running Vacation Bible School for her local church, and helping underprivileged children and families.

ZERO rating if I could. They came out on time and found termites in the deck and a little dryrot. I am a licensed contractor. This is what I was expecting. We are putting the property on the market so we needed a termite report. I completely removed the entire deck and replaced with a new deck and also replaced the minor dryrot. I asked them to come out and reinspect, they did and they say all the repairs were done but would NOT give ma a clear report because I did not pay them to fumigate the entire structure. When I took the complaint up the chain of command I was told there were also termites

They seemed to rush through the job without taking proper care of our property. Scheduling a couple of days in advance to stay out of our home for the tenting process was difficult enough so it was not helpful when they gave us warnings at the last minute before the tenting was to take place. They should have emphasized when we set up the appointment that all plants must be far enough from the walls of our home so the tent can be secured to the ground without covering any plants otherwise the plants near the tent will be killed by the gas Also they should have used boards with foam bottoms when

Escalera was the pest company that our realtor had come out for a pest inspection for our house, and we're glad that we chose to stick with them for repairs! The inspector, Jason, was extremely professional and friendly, the office staff was great during scheduling, and the two different treatments/repairs that we needed were completed exactly according to plan.
We noticed an area of dry rot a couple of weeks later that had been missed, and called Escalera to see if we could have it taken care of. They were sincerely apologetic and had Jason come back out almost immediately to check it out

I had two dramatically different experiences
Another company which starts with an L and ends with a Z
Wanted $18,000+ to do the work for my schedule one
I was so shocked at some of the areas they said needed $7,000 in work we're mostly new wood with a little water damage
I decided to have a second opinion and called Escalera Fred the owner came out and did his inspection
I had a crew working on site so we took care of some of the wood replacement and wood rot using filler under Escalera's supervision
So we did do some of the work but
My bill from Escalera was $1500
I feel the other company

The people I dealt with at Escalera were courteous and professional. They did some termite repair to my house. The repairmen were on time, did good work and the price was fair.
We also had the house tented. We have a tile roof and the workmen who applied and removed the tarps broke many tiles which was maddening but not unexpected. When we were able to re-enter the house, I noticed that the power lines from the power pole to our house had been broken away from the house. I called Escalera and sent in photos of the damage as requested. I received a call back saying that my photos would be forwarded

Decided to add pictures of the work done. Thought it was overpriced for replacing the "fungus rotted wood" --white parts. The "fungus rotted" wood didn't look that bad honestly... the wood structures that looked like they had holes from pests is the one that should have been replaced- it's on the same wood as one of the fungus rotted wood, yet it wasn't replaced. And they still haven't responded back to my email about their work done

These guys are great. I spent too much time calling all around to different companies yesterday who either didn't answer, would need to call me back, or couldn't help. This was after my wife tried the same and was told they were too swamped by multiple companies.
I went on the state licensing boards website, searched for "operators" in Fillmore and Escalera came up. They answered my call in the first few rings, worked with my schedule, and sent a guy out the next day (today).
Well maintained truck, young local guy who has a valid field operator's license. They were cheaper

So my husband and I had an ant problem for what felt like forever! We tried litteraly everything under the sun to get rid of them, nothing would work long term. Escalera came to our house and sprayed and we noticed a difference right away! No ants, and months later we are still ant free! We live in the middle of a fruit orchard so the fact that we haven't had any in our house is truly a testimate to how wonderful Eaxalera is!!

I have known Rick Escalera for 25 years starting when he treated my first house and did repairs to meet an escrow deadline. I've used him ever since! His honest, can do work ethic is second to none. He knows his business and I wouldn't trust my beautiful house with it's huge deck to anyone else! I would highly recommend Escalera Pest Control to take good care of your house.
