Lippincott Architects (LA) is a small, design oriented practice focusing on residential renovations/additions and new houses. Our passion is to create a quality place for you and your family that feels great and functions beautifully. LA brings intimacy and individual design to every project.

We listen carefully and respond creatively to clients' needs, the needs of the home and the site using best practices under the dictates of the building codes.Without compromising quality, we design to your budget and work with you to balance what you want with what you wish to afford. Good design is also environmentally sensitive design and LA brings a strong passion for sustainable and "green" design.

Projects can be designed to incorporate solar panels, a "green roof, " geothermal HVAC, triple glazed windows and many other solutions to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint.

North Bethesda Bathroom Addition Report

A master bathroom and bedroom level laundry were added to a small Traditional 1930's brick house, which originally had only one bathroom. To create privacy and light in the bathroom, a tall wall of windows was installed near the ceiling of the bathroom, under the simple shed roof.

Vermont New Prairie Style House Report

This new four-bedroom house is based on an earlier design for the same client. He liked the first version so much, that when he built this second house, he asked LA to reduce the size and enhance it with Prairie style details. The horizontal window band on the exterior mirrors the long hip roof that has wide overhangs.
