I initially thought I was getting a good value with Dan Pena Drywall as their bid for a popcorn ceiling removal, smoothing of the walls, and repainting the entire interior was by far the most competitive. However it has proven to be a major disaster that would cost far more to fix.
Not only were there major delays and cost overruns, the drywall is now easily damaged by a mere bump. Worse of all, the paint has started to come off like paper. This is completely unacceptable. They are promised to address these issues, but have never shown up.

Danny came out and repaired a bunch of huge cracks in my ceiling and garage walls. He retextured it after it was blended back in and it looks fantastic! It is impossible to tell the difference between the rest of the ceiling and where the cracks were. He is a great guy to talk to and I would highly recommend him for any future drywall work you might need.

Dan took care of two projects:
1) Drywall in the kitchen after some water damage we had
2) Extending our Master Bedroom closet by removing built-in furniture and remove drywalls inside the closet.
For both projects, the quality of the work was amazing. My kitchen wall is looking great, does even feel like we never had any water damage.
The new design for our closet is also really good.
I really encourage you to hire Dan if you want high quality work. You can tell that there is many year of experience and knowledge. You won't be disappointed.

I reached out to have our ceiling taken care of after a plumber tore a rather large hole out and spent the night compiling quotes. I was worried since many others only did drywall installation and called it a day (low-quality work) -- Dan Pena did it all from end to end.
They were able to match the texture and find the right mix of paint to get it properly done. They wore masks the whole time, put down a large protective area around the whole thing, and handled all the clean-up.

Sal was super chill for a tradesman and that made it easy to work with him. He strategically hired a "giant of a man" (I'm six four 320 and, yes he's even bigger) who could do the whole job without a ladder. The work was done quickly but not skimping on quality workmanship. He was accommodating when he had vehicle problems and went the extra mile to make the job worth the money.

Dan was super! I have never had a more positive experience with a contractor.His work was great, he was responsive, followed through on his word, came when he said he would, and finished the job in our rushed time frame. I am very happy with the quality of work and professionalism with Dan and his team. Dan quoted me a reasonable price - not the lowest - but I felt more comfortable going with Dan than others given his great reviews. He was able to schedule me right away, and Sal came in and did an amazing job with the drywall/texture in 2 days that would have taken me a month to botch myself. Davin did a great job with the finish painting. We did have some miscommunication on the scope of work - but Dan was very proactive in coming up with a solution that worked for both of us. Everything went smoothly from estimate to cleanup. We had a difficult skylight patch job in a high ceiling over stairwell and several contractors couldn't figure out how to do it. Danny and his team were great, worked with us on a solution and got the job done quickly and results exceeded expectations. Communication was good also with daily status reports. Danny, Sal, and Davin were all amazing to work with. Don't risk it with other drywall repair guys on Yelp, most of them here don't even have contractor licenses! I found these guys through the CSLB after calling nearly a dozen others and rejecting them because they did not have C-9 license. In the end, I received 3 quotes from licensed drywall contractors and and went with Dan Peña because they were very communicative, flexible with timing, and seemed to care about minimizing debris.

If I could give them 10 stars, I would do it without hesitation! We had a water damage and our whole entire dining room, living room and part of kitchen walls got damaged. Dan and his crew worked tirelessly to make it look perfect again. Dan is very meticulous with his work and very detail oriented and his crew always clean up after themselves. They even helped us drill in holes for our recessed lighting and did touch up paint even though that wasn't included in the contract. Danny and his team were fantastic to work with! We had a patch of drywall that had been removed last spring for mold remediation, and after we got the roof patched this summer we needed to repair the drywall and texture and paint the area - and we added on a trim installation and paint job nearby. Needed a 2' x 5' hole in my living room ceiling patched due to a drain overflow in my home from upstairs. It was a 4 day process due to the texturing required. His prices quotes were very competitive and most of all Dan is willing to work out the best affordable price for installation. Dan is also great at communicating the best dates and time to begin work. Dan and his son wore PPE due to cover-19 and did an outstanding job installing the new drywall. Would definitely use again.
