Our technicians were on time, polite and knowledgeable. I can't fully rate the service as we aren't going to be able to use them. We requested a quote to address a crack in our chimney flue, but were given a quote for total demolition and rebuild of our chimney. While acknowledging it is an old chimney, it's not exactly at the point of falling over and we would have appreciated a quote for some kind of mitigating work that addressed the crack in the flue. I think the inspection was exaggerated.

Hancock Chimney is FANTASTIC!!! First time out, they did a full inspection of both chimneys and gave me a written report with pictures on their findings and recommendations. I’ve never had a home with fireplaces and was quite nervous about using either fireplace. One had an insert and as luck would have it Hancock had installed it for the previous owner. Jason, the technician, explained how the insert worked, told me the best way to start the fire, explained what a negative draft was, and showed me the size of the wood that would work best. The tech arrived on time, wore a mask for all phases of his work, removed his shoes upon entering my home, explained all aspects of his work, used large drop cloths to protect my floors, shared a video of before and after views of my chimney work. Best of all, he was knowledgeable about needed replacement parts and ordered them on the spot and additionally, he was warm and engaging. This group is top notch!

This is a first visit for Hancock Chimney Service to a home we moved into during 2020. They were efficient, knowledgeable, and gave us suggestions for a negative pressure issue in our basement fireplace. We decided to convert to gas logs in our living room fireplace, and they will install that unit, as well. They leave the hearths spotless and send a complete report by email for our records.

Very friendly and everything was straightforward. All questions were answered and it seemed like the job was completed professionally.
They provided quotes for what needed repaired and told us which things were critical and which could wait a little bit. We felt zero pressure to commit to any of their quotes but will definitely use them for one of the repairs in a few months. Glad they saw it before it started causing problems. Would recommend.

The chimney inspection went very well, and the technician immediately covered the high points of what he found, with a complete report following promptly. He also discussed options for capping the chimney and installing a fireplace insert, and we plan to work with Hancock on that job. The techs' good advice on a previous visit already saved us some money, so we are confident of getting a quality result.

We were wearing a mask, yet th technicians entered the house not wearing a mask and didn't ask if we wanted them to. After working for a few minutes we asked if they were covid vaccinated and they were not. We asked that they wear a mask and they agreed.
They also cut across the corner of our lawn and left 2 inch ruts in the lawn for me to repair.
I believe they did a good job of cleaning the fireplace and flue, but if there was any viable competitor that would not drive in our lawn and be vaccinated I would switch.

Hancock installed a new crown on my chimney and it looks great and was a reasonable price. The employees were helpful, responsive, and communication throughout the whole process was very good.
I have additional work scheduled for next month already and have no doubts that it will be done correctly and yield a great result.

First, my 4-star rating is strictly due for the legitimate inability to perform and exterior inspection (snow on a STEEP roof) as I would have given them a 5-star. The crew was on-time/date, totally professional and explained in detail of every aspect of and during the interior inspection. The flue had NO lining (which I was aware of), only masonry brick and explained that the fireplace chimney was dangerous to utilize and explained that in today's codes it is out of code (DON'T USE) to which I am in complete acceptance of due to the VERY strong possibility of a house fire (structure

We paid to have the company come out and review our current chimney to see if a fireplace could be done. The service personnel came out and said they would review and quote one week later.
Three months later after no correspondence back to us (no quote provided) we asked for our money back. We received nothing for their service but they still charged us a $100 service fee for inspection.
Terribly disappointing on their lack of follow up and even more frustrated that they wouldn't fully reimburse us even though what we had requested

I really wanted to support this local, family owned & operated business. Had used them for a home I used to own and they did a fine job (gas fireplace, didn't need much attention). Then I called them when I bought another home with a wood-burning fireplace... not a good experience. At all. Guy who came out was related to the owners and there was another guy with him. When they arrived I waited for them to come to the door, seeing them in their truck. Was fine with that...received call mid-Tuesday afternoon the day before to be told between 3-5 pm (first person I scheduled with forgot to make a note). Gee, thanks, but no thanks. Hancock may do well at cleaning chimneys, but I saw them talking about clearing up leaks on your inside walls from the snow and ice on 8 west. I had them come to my house since I had a leak from the previous thawing. Two guys came out and said it would be $850. for the 4 ft. around the entire house. I said I would have them do the back section where my leak was and they spent 20 minutes charged me $250. for the service and another $100. for the de-icer they said I should have. Had Hancock come out to clean my chimney and inspect it. I knew there was something wrong with the damper and I expected a cleaning would fix it or help the situation. First, I was told the would be there between noon and 2:00 pm. They did not show up until 2:20, I was not impressed already. Second, the were hired to clean and inspect which I had been told would cost $229 for the cleaning and they would do a free video scan as an inspection.
It jus so happened that the damper was rusted shut. The tech that came to my house didn't clean the chimney or fireplace, and still charged me $179

Be careful of their deceptive pricing tactics. They came out for a chimney cleaning, recommended a roof cap. Was quoted a price of $185.
Sounded reasonable for the labor/time/parts so I agreed.
After the job was done, I was hit with a bill of over 3 times that. The reason? The installed three. There was no mentioning of that in the quote. $555 is an absolute rip off for 3 roof caps installed at the same time.
Felt extremely taken advantage of.
Would not recommend.

Had them come out to do my fall time chimney cleaning. I should have planned ahead better because it took them a few weeks to get out :( my fault.
But when they came out they were on time and did a super job. "Jason" also explained how I should get a cap for my chimney, and how to do it myself!
He also explained that if I plan ahead a little better they offer discounts earlier in the season.
