We looked at two sidewalk replacement jobs recently on our block. One by Dimension Construction, Inc., the other by an unlicensed builder who shall remain nameless. Dimension's job took only a few days, while the other other job (of similar scope) dragged on for many weeks.
Nick Nicolau, Dimension's owner, holds three state licenses: A (Engineering), B (General) and C (Demolition Specialty). Dimension built the large retaining walls (main wall: 11 to 12 feet tall x 120 feet wide; planter wall: 4 feet tall x 100 feet wide) and drainage systems as part of our landscape project on a steep slope. Before getting introduced to Dimension, I reached out to some other concrete contractors in the Bay Area; many of them didn't even respond perhaps because of the complexity in the job while others responded with quotes that were not backed up by enough details. Dimension's quote came in with a good level of detail with very reasonable price; in addition, it had all the paper work required

- Company owner Nic came to evaluate and was patient with our many questions. He is an expert in the trade AND in handling all the local permitting requirements, which is a big deal for us
- Daniela, my main contact for estimate/contract paperwork, invoice, etc. was amazing: quick to respond, thorough, and patient with the additional questions I had along the way

I have been a customer of Dimension Construction since 2017.
They did excellent jobs of clearing mud slide, building french drain along two sides of the house, cement staircase on a long sloped side and massive retaining wall at the bottom of the house located in Oakland hill in Montclair.
In 2021, they did another excellent job of reinforcing part of foundation (originally built in 1906) in San Francisco with 4 ft deep steel encased cement foundation wall with waterproofing. They also built french draining around it and a few minor corrective jobs around in the Noe Valley, San Francisco house

Great job! It looks like a major commercial sidewalk work, and it is in the front of my home! The crew came all with masks and were at all times respectful and careful with plants and property. Dimension handled the permit application and called the utilities, and kept me appraised of progress, as city inspections were needed. They worked around the rain schedules to avoid delaying the job unnecessarily and they were very flexible and super-reasonable on last minute changes. I would work with them again any time, and I surely recommend them!

Nick at Dimension is the best! I recently replaced my home's foundation in San Francisco. I've done many remodels in San Francisco, but this really seemed like a big job and one I was quite nervous about. I got 10 bids, wanting to make sure I would be treated fairly and that I would understand what this job entailed. The bid I got from Dimension was the most professional with itemized costs, the shortest completion timeline, and the best price. One of the other bids simply stated: "Replace Foundation" and a price. Another contractor said it would take 2 maybe 3 months
