The original split room design was reconfigured to open up a luxurious space. The open concept of the room accommodates a freestanding tub surrounded by corner windows, as well as a spacious double vanity. The distinct floor tile pattern provides unique character, while the wood grain of the vanity and mirrors grounds the space against the backdrop of white subway tile.

Here is a view from the family room back towards the dining area and kitchen that demonstrates how large and open the space now feels. The entrance to the home opens up to a staircase to the second level. The existing stairway was heavy in appearance and outdated in style. By rebuilding the stairs and adding a custom steel and cable railing system it completely transformed the visuals of the home upon entering.
Looking at another angle of the living room allows you to better how on the first floor we were able to modernize and open up the living space with fairly minimal structural changes. We refinished all flooring brightening up the space and contrasting black paint on trims modernized a dated 1970s interior.

Shortly before we moved in to the home 2015, the entire basement had flooded and was unusable. We finally had the funds for a complete basement gut and finish and had several contractors come bid the job. John & team "wowed" us with their expertise, attention to detail, and process. It's a given that no construction project ever goes entirely according to plan. Add to that a pandemic and the chance for things coming off the rails is increased exponentially. Happily, working with Modern Homestead proved we had chosen the right people at the right time. From the initial meeting with John and dealing with all the people in the office, to working with Matt and all the crews on site on our new garage project has left us extremely happy with the completed project and highly satisfied with the entire experience. It is a joy to work with the Modern Homestead team from start to finish. Their professionalism and dedication to quality, both in service and construction, made my project as easy and enjoyable as possible. This is saying a lot given the scope of work and fact that I made changes in every room of the house, including structural improvements that required onsite engineering. They also finished on schedule and within the original expected budget outside of change orders I requested along the way. Could not recommend them more!

John and his team at Modern Homestead were fantastic. I reached out on Home Advisor to find a contractor for some work in my home and John reached out to me within an hour. By the next day, the team came to survey the work and I had an estimate from John that same afternoon. Work was started the next morning and his team completed everything within 1-day. I've recently relocated from California and bought a home in Boulder. Moving to a new place is not easy but John and his team made the transition very smooth! They are reliable, reasonable pricing and always available! We did many renovations and having a single point of contact helped a lot!
