Bought a pick up a few years ago from McCarthy's. Bought the warranty. salesman was not too professional. Wanted to talk about his corvette he had and that he needed another one. Truck developed an electrical problem and McCarty's mechanics could not figure it out. Warranty was useless. IF you buy a used vehicle you are buying someone's problems.

Awesome experience with this dealership. I saw a car I was searching for a long time with low Milage - and drove all the way from San Jose area to buy it.
I called before heading over - and when I got there - the car was already clean and brought to the front so I could test drive it.
After about 15 min of paperwork - I was out.
Overall great experience.

I was in a bit of a pinch, I needed a vehicle quick at an affordable price. Long story short my commuter vehicle was totalled. I found something online at McCarthy's. I went down there on a Sunday, test drove a nice a Scion. I wasn't pressured or needed to make a decision right then and there. I spoke with Jimi, a heck of a guy !. After the test drive told him I was going for lunch and I'd either be back or I wouldn't. I slept on my decision . I called him back Monday and now I own the vehicle. Very easy going dealership. The absolute best car buying experience i ever had . Jimi Casciaro was my salesman . After doing comparables for a Honda Van they had on their lot i was interested in buying over the course of several weeks i would keep emailing comps with prices to, Jimi . The comps were from other car dealerships with a lower price for the same vehicle they had for sale at, McCarthy's .While i thought he would get tired of these emails and tell me to go pound sand surprisingly he didn't and instead he responding to my emails . I bought a Honda van off their lot. They had three Honda Odysseys available for my inspection. They allowed us to drive each one of them and there was no pressure from the salesman who helped us! They are a "used car" lot and not a dealer lot so they have many nice cars of all makes so the choices are many if you don't know exactly what make and model of car you are looking for. You can drive several to help make up your mind as to what you want. The paperwork was quick and easy so the entire purchase was a breeze and i left a happy customer with my "new" van

The General Manager is so rude and condescending. He actually hung up on me while laughing. In my opinion, he has no regard for women. I asked a male friend to call and talk with him and he was completely different with him, joking, respectful. Don't buy a car from these people. Also, please do your research because they overprice the cars.

We purchased a vehicle two weeks back and after one week the drop link for the front suspension fell down, this was already broken and had been broken as the deep rust in the bolt shows. Obviously this was not looked at for safety prior to placing on the lot.
This vehicle did have some issues that we found during pre-inspection but this was a safety issue and it concerns me they would sell something in an unsafe condition.

Bought a GMC Truck from McCarthy's right before Christmas. Second car I've bought from them and another great experience. I worked with Josh to buy my truck and he was very helpful explaining the different truck options they had available. Easy to work and was accommodating to me showing up a little late two days in a row around the holidays.

I primarily worked with Kurt in purchasing the 2014 Toyota Camry SE in July and he was an easy-going guy + helpful in answering all of my questions. He was very patient as I use pedal extenders for my car and assisting in any way that he could. I also worked with Cody in regards to the warranty: very informative + friendly. I was very upfront about my situation, as I was looking to trade in my car that I was upside down with on payments. I knew my options were slim to none, and asked that they be upfront with me if nothing would work with what they had on the lot.
(I had even given all the pertinent details and numbers of my situation, and sent photos of my vehicle the previous day to avoid a long ordeal).
I had also had an excellent experience only moments prior at another dealership. They did NOT NEED ANYTHING

I believe they have good reviews because the sales staff is so nice. They are. However I bought a car here after being told about the "39point inspection" or something like that, ignored my better judgement and didn't take it to my own mechanic first. If they had done any kind of inspection they would have known the car was falling apart, and I have had nothing but repairs and check engine codes since I bought it starting with replacing the transmission less than one month after purchase. Who would take a 180-mile train ride from San Jose to buy a 20 year old Lexus from San Luis Obispo ? Yours truly. Best car dealership ever. Steve was our salesman and he consistently went the extra mile for us in all aspects of our purchase. Steve's first priority was making sure we got the right car for our needs. Not once did we feel he was just trying to make a sale for the money.

I've seen some nasty reviews down below, so I'm wondering if this is a specific person they're having trouble with! My mother and I decided to look at cars at McCarthy five years ago (yes five years ago) and when I saw that I had an unfinished review I knew I should just bite the bullet and let the world know.
So I bought a 2000 Toyota Camry back in 2012/13 and we discovered it had a problem with the radio that was minor and our sales associate agreed to fix it if we purchased the car. They also threw in new tires and changed a belt line that was worrying me.
