Wherley Moving was founded in York County in 1920 by J.D. Leonard. It operated under the name J.D. Leonard Moving and Storage until 1978 when the name was changed to Leonard-Wherley Moving Systems to reflect the transition within the family to another generation of movers. Now the name is Wherley Generations, Inc. to reflect the past, present and future generations of family members that operated our business.

We are small and controlled so we can offer you services for your long distance move that the large companies can't. Here are some of the advantages to using us instead of a large corporation. Personal Attention- Our staff will work with you personally and make sure all your needs are met.
Take a basic inventory of your house and decide which items will be moved and which items will stay with the house or be sold. Use post-it notes to mark the items that will not be moved by the mover. 2. If you are packing the stuff into boxes yourself, be sure to label the boxes clearly on the side of the box as to which room the item will be put at time of delivery.

We moved into our forever home and used Wherley to move our belongings (our first experience using a moving company). I am so happy with the professionalism and the care that Wherley exhibited. They were upfront and honest about what they could move and what they couldn't, so there were no final surprises on moving day. They showed up promptly and did a great job moving all of my belongings into the moving trucks. I used Wherley about a year ago to help with my home move. They packed up my house/disassembled furniture (everything except bedrooms) in the 24-48 hours before my move. Then they moved everything to my new house and had everything put back together in less than a day. A few weeks after that, they picked up my new furniture from the store (who wouldn't deliver) and moved that into my new house as well and moved the current furniture into the basement. During the initial move, it was pouring rain, so they weren't able to set up the outdoor items. When they came back the second time, they finished

Wherley helped pack and move my house. Their team was professional, expedient, and just an all around great company to work with during the stressful time of selling/buying/moving houses. This all happened during Covid, which as everyone knows, created additional stress, but Wherley was willing to work with me and everyone else as schedules/regulations constantly changed during this time.

Lori, Mike, and the team at Wherley were wonderful. From the day Mike came to the old house in York, PA to look over our moving items and work up the cost, to the end team that delivered our belongings in Indiana, we knew we were in capable hands.
