Albed Rug Company has been in business since 1914. Samuel Albed sold rugs first in Cape May, New Jersey, expanding to Philadelphia in the 1920's. Sam and his son, Ray Albed, Sr. opened for business at our present location in 1960. Ray Albed, Sr. is a three-time past president and 30 year board member of the Oriental Rug Retailers of America (ORRA).

In early April of this year ( 2021) I began an in-person search for a new living room rug ( after a hugely disappointing purchase from an on-line retailer). I visited at least 8 stores within 25 miles of our home. While running an unrelated errand I happen to see Albed Rug Company in Wayne.

I was extremely dissatisfied with the work that was done in my home. They left a lot of unfinished installation mistakes. They acknowledged and agreed that their installer did a terrible job and promised to rectify it but after many calls to them and no response it is still not corrected. I would steer clear of this company.

Albed ruined two of three wool Persian rugs I had brought in for cleaning. Inexplicably, the rugs are now missing pile and the webbing is exposed. They were in great condition when I dropped them off, I just wanted a deep cleaning to remove invisible dog dander for the allergic family member to better tolerate the rugs. I loved those rugs, and took great care of them. They were lovely, expensive, and in great shape at drop off. Albed seems to have sandpapered the pile off. I brought 3 beautiful wool rugs to be cleaned of invisible dog dander. Vacuuming was not enough. Albed ruined two of them - their pile is missing in areas. The orange rug is flat out trashed. Albed told me that I must have brought in such old and filthy rugs that they couldn't see the situation. Since I know this is a big fat lie, I am very, very angry. I paid (!) to have two great rugs ruined by this store. It looks like they were sandpapered. None of my rugs ever have any filth on them, and they are very carefully maintained. I love genuine Persian rugs. I'm so glad I left some rugs

Recently had our rug cleaned by Albed. Before committing to the service, I called to inquire about the process, prices, timing, etc. Michelle, who answered the phone, was very helpful and courteous. Although Albed offers pick up service, we opted to drop the rug off and have it delivered upon completion.

It is rare to encounter true full service in any transaction. Albed is a small company whose attention to service is stellar. From scheduling, communications, pick up, and delivery, the experience working with them is an excellent experience. I have had rugs cleaned and repaired and have purchased from them. Everyone in the organization is customer oriented. I Highly Recommend Albed.

We took a beloved but not really expensive oriental to Albed Rug Company. We were greeted warmly. They spread our diseased rug out in the front of the shop. After much discussion between us and the knowledgeable staff we were told it just wasn't worth it to try and repair. We could see the problem. Ray Albed was able to find us exactly what we wanted--a smaller but very similar rug. It came in the next day. We are so thrilled with the rug and the service!!

I had them pick up a rug for cleaning. The guys who picked it up were professional and courteous. The guys bringing it back were early but were patient while I finished getting the floor ready.
I have no idea when this rug was last cleaned, but when we got it back it GLOWED. It looked brand new, even though it was more than 25 years old. The guys brought it in and put it down. Made sure there were no wrinkles and the fringe was fluffed. I will definitely call them for any other rugs.
