I brought my 100 year old Sarouk in to Solano Rug Galley for a very overdue cleaning and restoration. Three weeks later, I came home with a richly glowing gem! The colors were glorious, the texture, soft and smooth, the problems areas gone. Iraj is a gifted craftsman who clearly knows his business and brings a true passion toward restoring these lovely treasures back to their original splendor.
Oriental rugs need to be cleaned regularly to maintain their beauty and charm. Proper cleaning enables them to last a lifetime. Our family has been in the business for generations, and we take pride in the professional care we give each and every rug during our hand-cleaning and restoration process.
Even rugs used as wall hangings need cleaning once in a while to keep the wool from drying out and becoming brittle. If your rug has stains from pets, wine, ink, or the like, tell your professional cleaner about them. We can remove many such stains if we know what caused them. If a needed repair is neglected, it is likely to worsen, making it more costly in the long run.

Iraj (the owner) is a wealth of knowledge on carpets and other forms of weaving and fascinating to talk with. We had 2 carpets repaired and cleaned and the difference is amazing. The repairs on one 150+ year old carpet required three tears to be stitched back together, wool dyed to match the original carpet and then woven back into the carpet as well as the end knots repaired and sides cords to be repaired/replaced. They came out beautifully and you'd never know there were tears in the carpet. The cleaning really brought the piece back to life. The other carpet was ~50 years old, much

I would like to give a special shout-out to Iraj of Solano Oriental Rug Gallery for the very professional way he handled our problem. There was a misunderstanding about a pad we purchased for our oriental rug, and we were very unhappy with our situation. He was quick to fix the problem to our satisfaction, stating that making us happy was his first priority. The true measure of a successful business is the high level of customer service it metes out. The owner, Mr. Vafaeenia, knows a great deal about carpets. He has been in Berkeley for 40 years, and his family's carpet interests go back much further. So far he has restored one of my carpets, and is working on two more. He does excellent work, and his passion and knowledge makes him enjoyable to work with.

We have a lot of confidence in Solano Oriental Rug Gallery. Over the years we have bought some superb rugs there as well as a particularly wonderful saddlebag. Iraj Vafaeenia is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and very proud of his excellent selection of high quality rugs, and we benefitted from his expertise in making our selection. Recently we brought in two rugs we had bought there, as well as the saddlebag, for cleaning. The price was very reasonable and the rugs look beautiful. In the process a repair was needed for the saddlebag and it was done quickly and very well. We highly recommend

Beautiful selection of new and antique rugs. Owner is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I felt a little pushed to spend more than I was comfortable with on a rug I brought in to be cleaned and repaired, but I would still return to shop there. Did some research on cleaning costs in advance and their prices seemed fair. My Afghan Khal rug was lustrous and like new when I returned.

I found out that one of my rugs that I inherited was over 100 years old and an excellent rug. I had no idea! We bought a rug in Turkey and brought it to Iraj Vafeenia at Solano Oreintal Rug Gallery to check out. Mr. Vafaeenia was so generous with his time and expertise. He verified that the rug we bought was indeed what we had been told and that it was worth the price we had paid. He showed us how to identify the type and quality of our rug and we learned more than we had from our research and the rug merchant in Turkey. We were also told that we could trade our rug if it wasn't the right size or color.

Great Family owned business! The owner Iraj is a wonderful Gentlemen. Amazing how he remembers his customers and speaks with them on a personal level but still maintains a business sense.
The owner is also quite informative and knowledgeable of his inventory and always willing to make a deal.
DEFINITELY the place to go in the Bay Area for a great selection on priceless rugs for your home or office. (We have them in both. LoL)
We have also had numerous rugs repaired and a few restored to which all have come back home good as new and with no complaints.

Solano Oriental Rug Gallery did a fantastic job cleaning my 8'x11' Persian Oriental. I brought in the run with many, many old food stains. It was hand cleaned and came back perfectly clean with no stains visible. Great service and very good prices. I recommend them highly and will continue to use them in the future.
