Access Rugs Inc. is a family owned and operated business based in Berkeley, California. For the past 22 years, we have been collecting a wide variety of hand-made rugs, from Central Asia. All of our products are hand-made and authentic, and each has it's own cultural value. At Access Rugs, our aim is to preserve the Central Asian culture and to keep those artistic talents alive.
We have built a strong relationship with the makers and weavers of our products, most of whom work in rural and traditional settings. Having experienced those conditions first-hand, it has made us even more appreciative of their work, and that is where we see their real value. Our products are alive with the stories of the region and the people who make them.

Services
Although we specialize in hand-made rugs, we can clean any rug whether it's machine-made, Navajo, antique, etc. Our cleaning process can eliminate traffic patterns, stubborn odors, wine, food, pet stains and other messes. Every rug is closely inspected, cleaned using our traditional "wet-wash" method, then dried in our indoor, climate-controlled drying room.

I met Atullah and John at a rug show and liked their energy immediately. They took the initiative to place several beautiful rugs in a house that I had almost completed in wine country. They allowed me to live with the rugs and swap out those that weren't perfect for the home. They put no pressure on me to make a decision and in the end I have a house full of gorgeous carpets at a reasonable price. Their carpets literally transformed the look of the place. You can not go wrong with these guys.

Terrific experience with this business. The owner was fantastic our entire shopping experience, from wandering into the store and patiently walking us through his rugs, to scheduling delivery to see the rugs in our home, and a return home visit to deliver the pads. He was not pushy, totally customer oriented, knowledgeable, and COVID-safe. I wish we needed more rugs to continue working with him, but we highly recommend to friends and family and the online community.

After looking at area rugs on the internet for almost a year and then visiting a number of local rug stores, we purchased a beautiful vintage rug at Access Rugs. It was a a very positive experience. The owner was kind and patient as we looked at a large number of rugs. And most importantly, he was willing to work within our budget. We initially purchased a rug, brought it home and found it didn’t work with our colour scheme. He assured us we could bring it back and exchange it. And we did just that. We visited Ata's showroom and chose two rugs of differing sizes. He allowed us to take them home to see which rug fit our space the best. His shop is well stocked with many beautiful rugs from all over the world. He is very kind and his customer service is superb. I would highly recommend his shop if you are looking for an area rug.

My husband and I had a phenomenal experience buying a rug here. We walked in and immediately found the environment warm, inviting, and helpful. My fiancé and I were looking for a 9x12 handmade rug on a budget. Atauallah's shop is small but mighty. There are rugs on every inch of wall and piles and piles of gorgeous rugs from all over the world to choose from. Ataullah showed us several rugs, telling us where they were from, the knots, and the materials. He let us take two rugs home to try out. We fell in love with one. Ataullah gave a a fair price to meet our budget and stayed open late for us to come by after work. He even threw in two beautiful pillow cases. Genuinely nice man and phenomenal rug selection!

I can't say enough about the service I received for the cleaning of my two area rugs. It was exceptional and it's no wonder that all the other reviews are 5 stars!! Ataullah puts customer service first which today is saying A LOT!! He worked around my schedule as I was moving and needed the rugs cleaned and ready for storage in a particular time frame. It was a pleasure working with him and if I'm ever in need of anything to do with his business I will see him again!

My two beautiful woolen area rugs were picked up, delivered back to me cleaned beautifully and looking like new. Ata provides great customer service and I am really really pleased. I highly recommend their store for either buying new rugs and/or cleaning of your current rugs. Honestly our clean ones look like new ! !

Having purchased two rugs from Ata at this point, I wanted to share our wonderful experience. We bought our first rug from Ata several years ago at the Alameda Craft Faire, and we went to visit him at his shop, Access Rugs, when it came time to buy another rug. Ata has a great selection of rugs of all different sizes and origins, and at different price points. He works with you to find something you love that's in your budget, and we were able to try out multiple rugs in our home before making the final decision. Ata, the owner of this shop, helped me find the perfect large kilim for my living room. I visited the small store a couple of times and found a few rugs that I liked a lot, which he let me take home to try. I'm VERY happy with the one I chose, and also with the excellent price Ata gave me. The whole shopping experience was low-key and pleasant and, just for keeping me waiting once, he added two beautiful kilim pillow covers into the deal.
