As a team, we believe strongly that careful planning is essential to the success of a project. A typical renovation project will take approximately 4 to 6 months of physical construction, while additions and new construction project may take even longer. Diligent planning and proper project programming can reduce the overall time and alleviate process slow downs.
While no two projects are alike, the general phases of construction seldom change. Much like baking a cake, there is a process to be followed. Well-understood principles of critical path functions and construction management often make the difference between a smooth project and one that derails. After architectural plans are completed and design specification is underway, the work of construction may begin.
Almost any time you're working on a house! Most jurisdictions will tell you that even swapping a light fixture should technically have a permit. This depends on the municipality. Some departments are more fee-heavy than others, but often times you can find fee information on their website that serve as a general guideline.

When it became clear that it was time to do something with my mother-in-law's old 1950's home, Craftbuilt, Inc. very quickly became the clear path forward. From my first call with Aaron, he understood our vision and confidently proclaimed that they had done many renovations on homes like ours, including being able to describe to me the layout of the "Ranchburger" that we had before even seeing it. In our case the home had an in-law suite added in the 80s complete with a second kitchen and we wanted to unify the space into a single home. After an initial walk through and discussion of small, medium

I wish there was a negative star rating I could give this company. Here is a summary of the many issues we had:
1) Delays: Our kitchen remodeling project was scheduled to finish in 3 weeks. Craftbuilt started work at the end of November 2020 and finally finished in June 2021 (7 months later!). We take responsibility for some of the delay, however, there were weeks when nobody showed up to work.
2) Cut Corners: Craftbuilt failed to follow the specifications of our independent structural engineer and did not install the required structural support elements. Luckily, this was discovered during a

We had a 30-year-old deck that desperately needed replacement. A family member who is a well-known landscape architect provided plans for a new deck of several elevations which was somewhat technical and complicated. Our thought was with plans in hand estimates would be easy for contactors to provide and we could compare apples to apples. Not so. The range of prices was considerable and several contractors completely ignored the plans. We heard of CraftBuilt through friends and after visiting the website thought our job might be too small. Again, not so. CraftBuilt was a breath of fresh air. Aaron

Aaron McGinnis at Craftbuilt was referred to us by our realtor. She had heard really good things about the work that he'd done in City of Atlanta, she liked his style and thought his personality would align well with ours. Turns out, she was 100% correct.
We met with Aaron for the first time in April 2017 and that kicked off our journey to building the house that we're madly in love with today. Aaron's process is as clear and thorough as he is. Our first few meetings were very conceptual in nature. We talked through what we thought we wanted & he used that to define a high level design. After

We hired CraftBuilt to do an addition and renovation on our home in Grant Park. They did an outstanding job on a difficult project. Aaron and his staff were always friendly and knowledgeable about all the rules and regulations of doing a project in a historic district. We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. We were so pleased with the work that we hired them to do another renovation on a rental house that we have.

My non-profit organization hired Craftbuilt to help convert a 1901 residential structure into a commercial bookstore and community space. Aaron and the Craftbuilt team put their whole hearts into this project, even and especially when it was hard. We were working with many more moving parts than a typical home renovation and Aaron was very kind and patient in explaining things as we went and helping us negotiate for the best prices with suppliers. His entire team is kind, smart, and respectful. They are the exact opposite of the macho, know-it-all contractors you sometimes hear about around Atlanta

We couldn't be happier with Craftbuilt! The 1st floor of our house flooded which required a new kitchen. I contacted several kitchen cabinet /designers companies and one of the only ones that returned my call was Gina at Craftbuilt. She literally met with me the next day and gave me an estimate. The process was efficient, the cost was fantastic and in-line with our budget AND what they estimated. In addition, the cabinets were delivered and installed about a week earlier than planned. And most importantly, the cabinets are beautiful and beyond what I imagined. I highly recommend Craftbuilt!

Raving fans! These guys are the very best. The Craftbuilt team has renovated a master bath and kitchen in our Sandy Springs, GA home. Craftbuilt excels in organization, systems, communication and craftsmanship. Since we were living in our home with two young children during both projects (about a year apart), what I appreciate most is Craftbuilt's pre-project preparation. Being organized on the front-end kept disruption to a minimum. Friends and neighbors couldn't believe that they finished the projects so quickly. And now that we've been living with the results for a while, craftsmanship and quality

We hired Craftbuilt for a large renovation of our home. We wanted to add a 2nd level and renovate the first level. We were told that if we did not want to continue work with them after the plans were done, then the plans were ours to keep (after a large payment of course). We found this company very difficult to work with. They would not come out to our house (the construction site) as "traffic was too bad". We were disappointed in the first set of plans but then after work throughs we were happy with them. Craftbuilt blew our budget out of the water which we expected to happen but not by double

I contacted 4 companies for estimates of rehab costs on a property in Atlanta, only 3 showed up, only two gave written estimates, only Craft Built gave a detailed estimate. They started by giving me a preliminary estimate based on our conversation and internet resources, after their inspection they promptly provided a final estimate based on our discussion of work scope and another one based on their further recommendations. They were always very professional. The only negative was their estimate was higher than the other (vague and tenuous) estimate. That house purchase did not happen, but I will
