Services
The single most important thing you can do to maintain your septic system is to have the septic tank(s) pumped regularly. Wisconsin Plumbing Code SPS 83 requires that systems be inspected and pumped (if needed) at least once every three years. This schedule may work for some homeowners, but some may need more frequent maintenance.
Remember: Septic systems and mound systems are not permanent! Nor are they giant municipal systems that can handle anything you pour or flush into them. They are merely filters built in your yard that will fail (due to accumulation of solids) at some point in time. The following information, if followed properly will help you maintain your system for as long of time as possible.
For optimum efficiency it is recommended you have the septic tank pumped immediately prior to cleaning the effluent filter. This lowers the water level to the bottom of the tank. The effluent filter is located in your septic tank just below the manhole cover. In a system with a two-compartment septic tank, the filter would typically be beneath the second manhole cover.
Herr Construction has been connecting homes and businesses to sewer (and water) for four generations. Whether gravity sewer or pressure sewer, Herr's expertise will ensure the project is performed to the most stringent standards. Here at Herr, our goal is to minimize the potential for any future repair issues or blockages.
Before we even begin discussing sewers, please note: DO NOT FLUSH WIPES-any kind of wipes. Toilet paper should be the only paper product being flushed. Over time MANY sewers experience blockages or breaks in the pipe that cause sewage to back up into a home or cause the inability to flush toilets or use water without back-ups occurring.

Their Tech Chris came out to service and clean my septic system. What ideal workmanship he demonstrated in the work he preformed, his impressive attitude, and a very professional and personable demeanor. I got to hand it to him, for the work he does everyday and still has a smile on his face and answered all my typical resident questions. He was very difinitively and explained how this system worked and how to extend the life of these components for my benefit. I can't recommend him enough.

This review is long overdue! Herr put in our mound system a year ago and I can not recommend them enough! We had an issue with our septic system this week but they were on it and got us back up and running in no time! I’ve had extensive communication with Todd before and during the installation process and have had great communication with Kelly regarding our issue this week! All of the guys that have come to work on the septic have been awesome as well! Herr is the place to call if you need anything regarding your septic system done! They’re the best!

We hired Herr to install a new holding tank on our property and they were very responsive and professional when it came to letting us know our options and what we should do. The cost was straight forward and there were no hidden fees later once the job was done. We ran into some abandoned utility lines and other things on our property once they started digging and they did a great job of calling in the power company to figure out what everything was. Highly recommend Herr for your septic/holding tank needs.
