Our local home energy efficiency experts can help you uncover the full potential of your home. During visit, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of all of the areas of the home to determine current status of your insulation and provide recommendations to improve your comfort while reducing your utility costs.
Ice dams usually occur after a heavy snowfall and several days of freezing temperatures. Warm air inside your home leaks into poorly insulated areas of the attic and will warm the underside of the roof causing snow and ice on the roof to melt. The melted water will drain along the roof, under the snow, until it reaches the cold overhang.
The New Jersey Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program offers financial incentives on energy efficient improvement packages. The more energy savings measures you decide to install, the greater the incentive. It provides those who qualify with a discount covering 50% of the cost of eligible energy efficiency improvements up to $5,000 per project for single-family homes.
Cellulose insulation has been around a long time. Thomas Jefferson used a form of cellulose to insulate his estate, Monticello - where construction began in 1769! What we think of today as cellulose insulation has been in wide use since the 1920's, growing dramatically after WWII. The energy crisis of the 1970's and 1980's led to even greater use of cellulose - and the reputation of cellulose as an insulation that would settle in your walls.
First, it's important to understand what Cellulose insulation is and how it's made. Cellulose insulation is made from recycled newsprint fibers that are treated with borate, a non-toxic mineral. As such, Cellulose insulation is the safest among all the other kinds of insulation there is including spray Foam insulation.

It’s been 2 weeks since Metro insulated my Cape Cod. What a difference!!! Temperature is much more even. I can see the difference in how fast and pattern of snow melting on roof. Haven’t gotten a coned bill yet, so don’t know if the bill went down yet. Definitely recommend.

MetroNY replaced the insulation in my newly purchased home which was very old and ineffective. The job was challenging given how the house was constructed but the team was able to navigate any issues and the difference has been notably better since they finished. They were also very flexible, allowing me to split the job into two parts over ~6 weeks to accommodate other work I was having done. 100% would recommend

Now as we approach winter, all I can say is “wow, what a difference!” I’ll be calling them back next year to pack the ceiling of my 2 car garage. I had several exterior walls dense-packed with cellulose insulation following a very frustrating experience over the summer with a local contractor who overpromised on their capabilities. The difference between the two was night and day. Make no mistake, this is a very complicated, invasive process that can go drastically wrong if the installers handling the work don't know their business. Metro Insulation does know their business and then some. Howard was very upfront and attentive during the consultation, and his installation team was extremely detailed and knowledgeable. Howard and his wife, Debbie, run a fine business with polite, capable workers who do the on-site work. We had the perimeter walls of our house insulated, with the densely-packed insulation blown in from the outside.
The job was completed, including clean-up, very satisfactorily in less than 2 days. Howard checked that the job had been right. He is extremely knowledgeable and also provided useful suggestions and help regarding improvements to our home, above and beyond the contracted job.

A+ experience with MetroNY sealing our home. Howard (in charge of the installation) was very friendly and knowledgeable and has laser focus on details. I am so happy with the decision I made to go forward with this project and hire Howard and his crew. My house now feels cozy ALL the time and EVERYWHERE - no more cold and drafty spots. Howard is extremely thorough and his crew followed suit. The entire job took two days, and they cleaned up after themselves each day. I strongly recommend using these guys, they will not steer you wrong.
