Services
When Ulrich Graffunder emigrated from Germany in 1958, he brought with him old world craftsmanship skills honed in the ironworks industry in a country known for its quality in manufacturing and engineering. After years working in a San Francisco safe company, he saw the need for safes that focused on quality rather than mass market quantity, and for safes that could be custom made to meet special requirements.
The majority of safes today are classified as a residential security container. Graffunder safes are a safe within a safe, neither stamped nor formed. Graffunder safes are constructed from plate steel. Our minimum outer body thickness starts at 1/4 plate steel with an inner body thickness of 14 & 16 gauge.
The following content values and their assigned minimum security levels are recommendations made by Graffunder Sales LLC. The security levels are intended to be used as a guide only when selecting safes or vault doors. Final decisions as to security level for a given client is solely that of the client and/or their insurance underwriter.
For residential applications, this is often a personal decision. We often hear that a homeowner insurance policy will cover the cost of replacing most items. Most policies cover only a percentage of the item's value. However, all of the insurance in the world is not going to replace items such as heirlooms, artwork, custom items, photos, collector guns, etc.
All Graffunder fire and burglar resistive safes are warranted for the life of the original owner to be free from malfunctions and/or manufacturing defects. Exterior paint finishes are warranted for two years. Warranty coverage for locks is per lock manufacturer. Such warranty does not cover malfunctions due to conditions beyond our control: conditions such as improper use or care of the unit.
