I've been going to MC Audio for over 2 decades. Even though I've moved out of the city, I still make pilgrimages to this store for all my music equipment purchasing needs. Mike Carlson, the owner, is a truthful, honest, caring, and as hardworking as they come. His prices are competitive, but you get that in-person, in-store experience that you can't replace online. Where do I even begin... MC Audio is THE place to go in Madison to rent and buy gear, as well as learn a thing or two. I have been taking DJ lessons from the MC Audio crew for over a year. I have learned a lot and they have excellent knowledge of music and equipment. Prices are very competitive and they do not try to upsell or push products at you.

I own and operate a mobile DJ company. MC Audio is my GO TO place for all of my gear needs. These guys not only know their stuff, but have great customer support and top notch pricing. I've never been anything less that totally happy with my purchases there, and I've spent thousands of dollars on speakers, controllers, lights and more.
DO NOT buy at guitar center or even amazon until you give these guys a chance to beat the price. I've never even had to ask and the prices always come in less than others.
