Services
For over thirty years, Hunt Hardwood has been an industry leader, offering the highest quality custom wood products available. We are direct to the forest. Our close relationships with foresters, sawyers and saw mills enable us to deliver the finest quality custom flooring and other architectural timber products.
Hunt Hardwood's custom milled flooring is available in a wide variety of sizes, species, grades, cuts & finishes. All of our materials are sourced in sustainably managed US forests. We have an intimate connection beginning with the forests where we handpick trees for removal necessary to nurture future growth.
Consider your lifestyle and the type of wear your flooring or other wood product will experience when choosing a finish. Surface finishes form a protective coating on the surface while penetrating finishes permeate the wood often adding hardness to provide protection. Prefinished floors are finished in a controlled factory setting and are shipped to the client as a finished product ready to be installed.
Wood comes in host of species. Following are some of the most common flooring species used in the United States. Considerations for a specific species will be appearance, character, hardness (durability), application and cost. White Oak is our most commonly used species given its desirable mix of durability, performance and appearance.
Following is an overview of wood cuts and sawing methods. Plan a visit to our showroom to chat or ask us about our Woods Cuts presentation (registered for AIA credit for those architects who are looking for continuing education credits). The way a log is cut affects the appearance and performance of a piece of wood.
