For children up to the age of 13 years old who are blind or have low vision, the Carroll Center for the Blind offers a multitude of services that parents can depend on to ensure that developmental milestones are met. Students between the ages of 14 to 21 years old can participate in weekend and summer programs to help them transition into young adulthood, fostering independence while preparing them for future success.

For older teens, we offer academic year programs to support developing vocational skills. Our comprehensive vision rehabilitation programs are designed for both newly-blinded adults and those who have had a significant loss in vision over time. Our team of specialists guide clients to relearn skills and adjust emotionally, empowering them to live an independent life.

Remaining independent is possible for seniors with vision loss. The Carroll Center provides support for remaining independent in your home, safe travel instruction and resources and advice on low vision and assistive technology.
Services
What started out as the Catholic Guild for All the Blind has transformed into the present-day Carroll Center for the Blind-a leading blindness rehabilitation center that continues to embrace the same principles that we were founded on; respect, independence, dignity and determination to open opportunities and improve the lives of all we touch.
Thank you to everybody that participated in our Virtual 5K and Walk for INDEPENDENCE! Together, not only did we reach our financial goal, but we exceeded it, thanks to all your unbelievable hard work, kindness and generosity. Although we did not walk the usual route this year, the reason we all supported and participated was the same; to come together and make a difference in the lives of people with vision loss.
The Carroll Center for the Blind offers a multitude of direct and consultative services for children who are blind or have low vision that attend public or private school. Our education specialists work with your child to ensure that every developmental milestone is met. A variety of special programs are also offered throughout the year to enhance students' school experiences in skill areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum.
Children with vision impairments can greatly benefit from low vision products, assistive technology and techniques to access school materials, the blackboard, and computers. However, finding the best solutions require an assessment by trained professionals and access to a wide variety of equipment.
Children who are blind or have low vision need specific educational accommodations due to their sensory impairment and require individualized instruction to compensate for the absence of visual learning.
