Services
Perkins School for the Blind is the worldwide leader in education services for children and young adults who have multiple disabilities and visual impairments. We believe every child can learn and learning is for life. Across the globe, in over 93 countries, Perkins-trained educators are reaching children at risk of being left behind.
Perkins School for the Blind, founded in 1829, was the first school for the blind in the United States. Even 175 years ago, our founders were committed to opening the doors to education, literacy and independence for people who are blind, visually impaired and deafblind. With its rich legacy in specialized education, Perkins has played an important role in the history of education in the United States.
Our executive team drives Perkins in its undaunted pursuit of equal access, excellence in education and the fundamental belief that every child can learn. Basler currently chairs Perkins' Board of Trustees, and was founding chair of the Trust Board, where she led the school's first-ever comprehensive capital campaign.
But more than half of children with multiple disabilities have never been to school. Perkins India dedicates every day to bringing these children the education they want and deserve. Perkins India launched the Identification and Intervention (IDI) model to identify children with multiple disabilities and vision impairment, and to connect them with interventions and education.
CVI stands for Cortical Visual Impairment/Cerebral Visual Impairment. CVI is a brain-based visual impairment caused by damage to the visual pathways or visual processing areas of the brain-and it's the leading cause of visual impairment in children. Individuals with CVI are neurodiverse, and their perspective on the world is unique and valuable.

I got accepted for an internship position and they sent me the acceptance letter too. I am an international student who applied for OPT (I informed them during the interview that I am going to apply for OPT) and paid $400 for the procedure only because I had secured an internship They denied giving me an internship after all my application was completed without any explanation whatsoever.
Highly unprofessional and honestly, unacceptable.

Excellent organization with a wonderful history I rate this four stars because I’m not sure if deaf and blind program still has high expectations Helen Keller ended up being really successful and got a college degree and I’m not sure if that’s expected at least for the deaf blind program otherwise I would have put a five star rating as this has always been a great organization and have had many memories here I was never a student as the state would never have funded it but I’ve been to many different weekends and events and can say this is a school that respects the blind and multiple disabilities

Finally my teacher began teaching me to read. I first read raised letters and later on read with Braille. I learnt to write With both ordinary as well as Braille type writer. I was well on my path to becoming a well educated person. I was provided all the possible opportunities to develop my abilities and I made the maximum use of them. '
I developed great confidence and I even visited the president, Cleveland at the White

Honestly this is a review of their adaptive playground, which is AMAZING. We've been to several in different states and this was one of the best. The accessible merry go round, that my son would go into in his wheelchair made me super happy. It was the first playground I've been to that had the restraints attached to the adaptive swings, so that was new and really nice. They had lovely grounds and the xylophones were cool to play with. My son loved touching the Braille. Seriously, one of the best parks we've been to and I usually hate going to parks because while some say they're accessible, they

My 11 year-old son has been a student at Perkins since he was 6 months old and entered the Infant-Toddler program. He went through Infant-Toddler, Preschool, and has now been a Lower School student for a number of years. We could not possibly be happier with the program, the facilities, the expertise, and most importantly the Love he has received at this world-class institution.

As a worker I might not work directly with the kids but I can see how well cared for. The staff are truly the best. And I as a worker feel very appreciated safe, and always happy to be apart of that school. I would rather no other way!!👍🏾😀 you don't see restaurant workers caring for their staff this much.
