When I had my residential solar system installed by Active Solar, I thought they did a good job. I even recommended them to four of my neighbors for their systems.
Unfortunately, when there are problems (such as a failed panel) their response is terrible. I had a second panel fail on July 27. It is now Dec. 15. Not only has the panel not been replaced; but Chris James CEO of Active Solar no longer responds to any of my emails or phone calls. The reduction of system output now has me paying SDG&E (for the first time) to make up for the reduced system power.

The initial contact & installation was good but don't expect any type of customer service after they've left your house. Our house is new, this was one of the first things we wanted to do upon moving in. Two years after installation, we had a leak...I'm hearing this is very common, unfortunately, because solar installers that aren't associated to your roofing company compromises the integrity of your roof once they've altered the original roof (material). Chris and Juan went out of their way to get a system installed by Swan Solar, who are no longer in this business, reporting out to the dashboard on the internet so I could review the status and performance of my system. I must say that for no charge they upgraded the module and persevered with some connectivity issues until it was working perfectly. There are not too many businesses around that would do this so I give them five stars for customer service. Thank you Chris and Juan.

Top notch company-superior customer service. We built our relationship with Active Solar over the course of about a year, as we were trying to make an increasingly unreliable Fronius product reliable. Juan, of Active Solar, worked with us all the way through-making service calls in a timely fashion, and educating us on the issues. We just replaced our Fronius inverters with a SMA. Avoid this place like the plague. However good they may be at sales and installation, their customer service is abysmal. I have called 5 times to arrange a service call but the "technician" (really, there's only one?) is never at his desk and the promised "prompt return" of my call never happens. And they don't seem to care or want to make it right

I can't say enough great things about the Active Solar team. They only use the highest quality solar equipment, installation materials and methods, and make sure your installation looks it's best too. Incredible value, great customer service, and they had my system up and running in only a couple weeks. Hats off to Raphael, Chris, Juan and the installation team, job well done. I recommend these guys to anyone who asks.

Not only does Active Solar use quality panels, but they have great customer service. We worked mostly with Raphael and Juan directly. They took care of everything from start to finish that it couldn't have been any easier to go solar. All questions were fully addressed and they kept us updated on the progress. Since we have an HOA here, there were some delays due to our multiple housing building requiring allocation of roof space to each unit. But once all the okays from city hall and HOA were cleared, installation to completion was very fast. Even after the installation was complete

We had considered going solar for some time. After a lot of consideration and several meetings with other companies, we decided to use Active Solar. Chris took the time to explain all the facets of the system he was going to design for us, all the way down to providing us with information on our pool heating and options as well. After interviewing at least 5 solar companies, we settled with Active Solar. These guys are great! They worked with us on pricing and designing a system that will suit our needs.
